having 6 weeks to lose 10 pounds for a trip i got desperate and started eating anywhere from 800-1200 (and then one binge) and i lost 2 pounds in a week and a half. im currently classifed with a BMI of 125 and want it to be 122 before september. im also excersising alot more, doing light weight training for roughly an hour a day and then cardio (walking ONLY) for 2-5hrs. i thought i would lose more weight. b/c when i used to dance, all the thin girls used to excserise alot and eat little. today ive only eaten 200 cals and im not even hungry but will obviously eat 600cals later today. im also drinking 100onz of water a day. why isnt this working? any other suggestions to lose weight fast.
Reason: Promotion of starvation diets or habits that exhibit signs of an eating disorder ("pro-ana", "pro-mia", etc.) is prohibited.
You probably shouldn't go under 1200 calories on your food intake, and there's not any reason. You've got 6 weeks, and only 10 pounds. That's 1.5 pounds per week. Use the CC burn and food systems to figure out how many calories you should be taking in, and don't overdo it.
Stick with 1200 calories, and put in your exercise time. 100 ounces of water is a lot as well... You could try cutting that back to 64 ounces (8 glasses). And try to spread your calories out more evenly throughout the day, not a big heavy meal at night. Some people think your biggest meal should be in the morning, and then taper off towards dinner.
And I'm pretty sure you DON'T have a BMI of 125. Over 30 is Obese. You'd have to weigh about 800 pounds to have a BMI of 125, in which case dropping 10 pounds isn't going to let you look good in a bikini (in my opinion).

You don't have to be rude. If you have nothing to contribute other than attitude, then skip the post and move on to something else. Your comments were uncalled for.

I know this is a little rude but I have to agree. I really wish people would read through the forums before posting.

Yes, I do agree also. One should read the stickies and rules before making a post. (Okay, I admit to not always doing it lol) But there are nicer ways to tell someone to do so. "oh would you go away" is not exactly a welcoming phrase. I know from past experience to posting on new boards, sometimes just one person responding with a hateful tone can set the mood of the entire board, when it's not even like that at all.
......and this is why I am always so hesitant to post anything even though I have ton of questions. Is it me or are people on here just getting meaner and meaner? What happened to support and helping eachother?

I think the major problem is that a lot of times, because people don't always search enough, a lot of posts are repetitive. Like someone new to dieting thinks it's okay to eat 500 calories a day, so they do it for awhile until they stop seeing results, then they come on here with questions asking why. I will admit when I first started, I wasn't well informed of how it went either. I drastically cut calories and lost 1 1/2 lbs. a week...now it takes me like 1 1/2 - 2 weeks just to lose a half pound.
But questions are a way of learning, and nobody should be afraid to ask. It's sad that we are though, because some people are inconsiderate in their responses. I even have a few boards that I only lurk on for information, but I won't dare post. The last few times I did resulted in some nasty, sarcastic, and unhelpful replies.. to a simple innocent question.
The way I see it, if you can't offer any useful advice, or at the very least some support, then just skip the post. It's that simple. There's no requirement to reply to every post you read. If it annoys you, roll your eyes behind the safety of the screen, and move on.

Nah! If anyone has an issue, let them deal. It's their own problem they let themselves get worked up. ![]()

Ok, guys. Listen up. It is not ok to criticize people for asking questions. We are here to help.
Now, having said that, I'd like to say something else to those of you who have posted on undereating.
Please know that Calorie Count cannot and will not support you eating less than 1200 calories a day (1500 for men and teens). We consider this unhealthy and CC is all about HEALTHY weight loss or weight maintenance
From Mary Hartley, Calorie Count's Director of Nutrition: "By eating only 800 calories, you will not get enough energy, protein, fiber, vitamins, minerals and other components of food. In time, you could become malnourished, which can cause severe health risks such as respiratory infections, kidney failure, blindness, heart attack and even death."
Here is a brief reason why never less than 1200 from the Advice section of Calorie Count Plus, under the Q&A tab:
Why must I eat at least 1,200 calories a day when I want to eat less?
In order to get the daily food servings you need for a balanced diet, it takes about 1200 calories a day. With careful planning, you could have a balanced diet on 1000 calories, but the restrictiveness of a very low calorie level can lead to binging and weight cycling, which will take you further from your weight loss goal. What's more, very low calorie diets can cause excessive muscle breakdown and metabolic adaptations, which can drive down your calorie requirements. In the end, you'll need fewer calories to maintain a higher weight
Your body needs at least 1200 calories per day to survive.
Here is a very rough scientific break down provided by a dietician for a 5' 2", 19 year old female weighing approximately 100 pounds, sitting around all day and doing nothing:
-The heart needs 12% of the calories (144 cals)
-The kidney needs 12% of the calories (144 cals)
-The Liver needs 23% of the calories (276 cals)
-The brain needs 23% of the calories (276 cals)
-The skeletal muscle needs 30% of the calories (360 cals)
