How can I stay away from chocolate chip cookies.

Quote  |  Reply

I am really trying to lose weight. I'm behaving pretty good about what I eat making sure everything is healthy and home-made, but right next door of where I work is a cafeteria that makes this really awsomee cookies and even though i try to stay away from them, I always end up getting one with a litter or two of water.

I have this thing for sweets which is really hard to stay away. Since I don't buy any treats or sweets at home I never have a problem with it. My cravings just happen when I am at work :(

A couple of months ago I weigh 150-152 and when I weigh myself on October 1st  ready to lose weight I was surprised I weigh 163!!!! So i gained about 10 lbs. in one month and I ussually eat pretty healthy, I'm not a big fan of unhealthy or fried greasy foods. So i know for sure it was the cookies and sweets! :(

I need help, advice, or something!

If you start eating healthy again, with enough calories, you could try and fit in a quaker breakfast cookie. They have 180 calories and 5 grams of fiber (:

They come in 3 different kinds too.

I don't know how often you get these cookies. But lets say currently you're getting them every other day. Try to only have 2 the next week, then one a week, and try to get down to 1 or 2 per month. It would be awful to have to work next door to this place and never eat their cookies again! I would say, not completely eliminate them from your diet, but just limit yourself to how many of them you get.

If all else fails, get a new job beside a subway, or some other healthy food place! =]

you could get the 100 calorie packs of cookies, or they even come in candy and chips now. They're tasty, but sometimes it can be hard to just eat one packet, and before you know it, you've eaten like six. But, they're very yummy.

Obviously, the best but most difficult thing to do is to exercise some will-power.  Don't buy the cookies.

But we're only human.  As a previous poster said, try to limit it to a couple a week and gradually cut back from there.  When you do buy one, split it with a friend and exercise a little extra to make up for it.  I wouldn't cut them out completely because that just leads to gorging yourself on them later.

So ration your cookie intake... tell yourself that you're only allowed to buy one of those cookies on Friday to celebrate the end of the week, and then stay out of the cafeteria before then. It's okay to eat 'naughty' things, just not all the time. (or else bake your own cookies in a healthy portion size and then you can take one to work with you every day.)

I agree with kajikit... You can have them, but in moderation. If you deny yourself, eventually you will find yourself with 4 at once. maybe split the cookie in half next time and either give the other half to a friend or just throw it out before you eat your half so you still get the cookie you crave but half the calories... Keep in mind the calories and log them. Good Luck!

Edit:  the other day my boss brought me half of a breakfast crossont with egg cheese and ham... he said it was half because he knows I am watching what I eat so he ate the other half of the calories for me so I would not be tempted!  It worked... half was only 150!!!!

I have the same problem but with chocolate. What helps me is smaller portions. I will just get a little chocolate bar (or two) b/c my store is little and sells the miniture bars. Could you do something like that, like mini cookies or something?!

Trying to deprive yourself of the cookie probably isn't going to work, it sounds like you really appreciate that part of the day!  My suggestion....drink 2 cups of green tea with your cookie!  Green tea blocks 30% of your fat absorption, other than that can you take the stairs on your way back into your office?  Good luck!

kashi makes a dark chocolate, whole grain cookie with 100 calories. they are delicious, and have lots fo fiber, so they fill you up. I would have one of each per day as your "dessert" if you portion it out right
