This is the kind of thing i need to hear. It is so easy to throw yourself WAY off track just by opening the snack cabinet. Good work 5327! I have been off the band wagon lately. I know, it's been my own fault, but this past week i just can't seem to say no :( I am trying to brainstorm ways to keep focused. Mainly to keep my mind OFF food and on other things that make me happy. If you or anyone else has any suggestions, please let me know. I am in dire need of some motivation.

Getfit20--   Well I guessing by your picture you are a female?  If so are you getting close to your period?  Reason I ask, I am pretty good all month as far as feeling satisfied with what I eat and not dieing to eat too much or "bad" choices. But when I am getting close to my period which is what I just experienced....watch out!  I start feeling sorry for myself, feeling I have been good for so long it won't hurt....I'm having PMS!  Now, what to do about it...golly I will tell you what I did, but I KNOW it is hard.   Start talking to yourself, SLOW down really think about what you are about to eat....try and find a safe alternative that is ok to eat.  Example:  I love peanut butter, someone told me about Nature Valley's Peanut Butter granola bars....I love them they are quick and they satisfy the urge.  Another weakness is sweet and chocolate....someone in the chats told me about Black Bean Brownies....can't say enough about them!  They are awesome and keep me happy!  So my advice slow down, start talking to yourself, and GET out of the kitchen!  Get more active, read a book, go for a walk, take a shower or bath....the urge will leave I promise.  And when you get up the next day you will be so PROUD of yourself!

i really needed ti see this. thanks. Ive been off all week and up ten pounds but i need to get back on track so i dont gain anymore. thanks!

Whatever07--   We are all here for each other!  You hang in there....glad to see you are getting back on the right track!  If you ever want to chat....please do.

I will agree, this really and truly does work.  I started changing my diet around Thanksgiving 2008, when I weighed 202 pounds (I'm a dude, and 6', but that was still waaay too much) and have been on this site for almost two months now.  I am now down to 180 pounds thanks to a combination of healthy eating (I have never eaten so much fruit in my LIFE) and moderate exercise, like just walking for an hour three days a week.  I am quickly getting within striking distance of my goal weight.  Stick with it, and you'll be fine.

I've been depressed ALL DAY.  Lonely, tired, nothing that piques my interest.  I was okay on calories till dinner, when I had a HUGE bowl of spaghetti with meat sauce and parmesan that added a ridiculous 1100 calories to my intake.  I had thought it would just bring me to where I needed to be, but I miscalculated by a lot.  For the past hour, I've thought about eating candy and cereal, and I almost did, but came in here instead to see if I could find something to change my mind.  And now I can handle it!  I know I'm not actually hungry---PMS is definitely a factor, too.  So I'm going to grab a cold bottle of water and try to get out of this slump.  Thanks, guys; I needed this!

This is the kind of thing I need to hear.I've been trying to stay positive and keep on track but it's so hard to when the results are so sloooooooooow.Great job girl!! Keep going

Adamanda congrat's for you!  To me you just succeeded where we all fail so often!  Now you know you CAN put the brakes on and stop the madness, it sucks that women do have to have PMS....but we really have to SLOW down thing about our decision and you did!  Awesome!

I'm so happy for you. I'm going to try to remember this when I start feeling urges to fall off the wagon & overeat.
