Seriously weird me and my friends were only talking about him last night cos he was my best friends first crush wen she was like, 6 years old...when I saw the news this morning I was so shocked.

Shocking news :(

It is very sad indeed, he was so young. I wonder what happened him?

I dont know they havnt found out yet, just died in his sleep no suspicious circumstances

Went out for drinks and went home and didn't wake up. :( Don't know much else but that's scary and very sad. :(

It was sad.  Unlike some of the singers around, Gately always struck me as one of the nicer, cleaner-living ones.  He always looked genuinely thrilled at how lucky he'd been to have landed the gig with Boyzone.  When someone asked him if they'd get back together a few years ago on a chat show he giggled and said 'I'd be the last to know.  They don't tell me anything!'

By contrast, if tomorrow the headline was 'Winehouse found dead in a hotel room', I don't think anyone would be all that shocked.  I do hope it doesn't turn out to be that hackneyed old phrase 'prescription drugs'....

I have never heard of Stephen Gately nor his band- Boyzone but I wanted to chime in and say that is awfully young- 33 years old.

I came across this article which talks about him being addicted after being prescibed anti-depressants long ago so perhaps they are keeping it quiet for now if there are drugs involved. We'll see, I guess.
