Is it bad to weigh myself every day?? I want to weight myself every day to and report my progress on this site... I know that weight can change daily!!
Well here's my two cents.
Many members on here will tell you not to weigh yourself every single day because your weight fluctuates too much due to whatever food and drinks you consume throughout each day. Instead, they will tell you to weigh yourself once a week.
Personally I prefer to weigh myself every single day. I can directly see how the scale is effected and I can automatically pinpoint what made the scale fluctuate the way it does from day-to-day. Whether it's from a lot of water/lack of water that I drank that day. Or if I ate a huge bulk of food. The tracker here basically gives you a pattern if your weight is going up or down.
Secondly, the once-a-week weigh in can also be misleading. Because if you ate/drank A LOT before your weigh in day. Then obviously the scale is going to reflect that and it won't necessarily be accurate.
I think you should stick with whatever you feel works best for you. The key here is CONSISTENCY. If you plan on weighing yourself every day, do it EVERY DAY at the same exact time each day (ex: morning before breakfast). If you plan to weigh yourself a few times a week, do it during the same days each week. Don't weigh yourself Monday and Wednesday one week, and then the next on Tuesday and Friday. Be consistent and you will get more accurate results. :)
But if you do weigh yourself every single day. Don't freak out over every single pound gained or lost because the scale only reflects what you ate/drank the previous day. It's over a longer time period that you will see a pattern of results (weight gain/loss). If you understand that then you'll be fine.
As for losing 5lbs.... well you can lose 5lbs in water weight... or you can lose 5lbs in fat. There's really no way of telling on the scale since it's such a small amount of weight (compared to 20+). However, if you lose 1lb a week it would take you about a month to lose 5lbs of fat. But if you want lose more than that, you can safely lose 5lbs in about 3 1/2 weeks if you lost 1.5lbs per week. With water weight though... one day you can weight 110 and the next 105 and think you lost weight when really you didn't.
I hope this helps :)
Once a week is enough. Weight fluctuates too much. Just in one day. Try to concentrate more on how you feel and how you clothes fit. Not the scale. Focus on fat loss and muscle growth more than weight loss.
This is a very personal decision. If it bothers you to see the scales vary, don't weigh at all. Watch your calories and see how the clothes are fitting. You have every opportunity to weigh once a week and "get a bad day" as you do once a day. Then you worry all week until the next weigh in, there is no magic to weighing once a week and missing false readings. I prefer once a day, same time, but I am accustomed to it varying. My intention is to weigh daily after this journey is over and react to those ups by taking care of it that day. If we had all done that to begin with we probably wouldn't be here today. This is not rocket science, it is simply numbers in and out.
I wish you luck with whatever works for you. It is great to have so many opionions and to know that somewhere there you should find what works for you.

Seems like there is a consensus of "do what is comfortable for you". I agree.
I just ordered a scale that I can weigh on. I've haven't had one for a few years. But when I was able to weigh every day I was able to monitor myself better. I don't like going a full week without weighing because "for me" alot of pounds can be gained in one week. I guess I weighed every day to make sure there no big jumps, but only wrote down my weight once a week. It worked for me:)
Hope you figure out what is best for you.
