Anyone trying to Lose 15-20 pounds by Halloween?

I have been messing around with this last leg of my weight loss journey for far too long. I'm really going to get serious about this last push and wondered if anyone else is in a similar situation and would like to help motivate each other?

Here are my stats, too:

5'6" female

157

28.9% BF (would like to be 25%)

Goal is 140

Moderate Activity Daily (I'm a SAHM with 3 little ones who keep me hopping!)

40 min. cardio 3-4 times a week, 90 min cycling once a week, 30 min. strength 3-4 times a week

(edit: added links to weigh-in form)

Hello, I'm aiming to lose around 20 lbs by the end of October too - at the moment I am 165 and ultimately hope to be 130 by December!

So I have a long way to go, but have already lost about 10, in three weeks. :)

I do 30 mins aerobics 6 times a week,  but should probably do more.

It's ten weeks till Halloween - and at an average 2-3 lbs a week, that's at least 20 lost by the end of October!

Wonderful!  Congrats on the first ten pounds -- that's fabulous!  I sort of figure we can check in with each other (and whomever else might join us) to help keep each other motivated and on track.  Maybe some exercise challenges and healthy eating choices (like getting all our water in every day for a week kind of stuff?).

This could be fun!

Hi, I'm in Smile Want to lose at least 15 by my birthday.

I just started the start to run program last week so I'm running (well it's more of a jog alternated with walking but it does the trick) 3 times a week. Try to walk the dogs for at least an hour to an hour and a half each day. Try to squize in a swim or 2 each week and lift weights 2 times a week (I know I should up that last one to at least 3...). I'm an au pair and am currently watching three lovely, very active kids, not to mension we have this huge trampoline in the back yard Smile So there is no reason for me not to be active.

I do tend to have binging problems but I'm proud to say that I haven't binged in 2 weeks. I figured out I need to feed my body more constantly like every 2 hours, devide the little calorie allowance a bit better. I'm nearning my plateaupoint though, for some reason my body always plateaus at 144.2 but I'm determinded not to let that set me back this time (it's my fourth attempt this year) I could defenitly use some motivation and teamspirit Laughing

My stats are:

5'5" F

148.2

35% BF (my ultimate goal is 25 but that's more of a long term project)

Ultimate goal is 125 but am aiming for 130 by nov 3rd

That is almost my exact goal. I've already lost a lot of weight but I have about 16 more pounds I want to lose, and Halloween is my exact goal date.

Starting weight: 280 pounds 10/30/07

Current weight: 166 pounds 08/17/08

Goal weight: 150 pounds by 10/30/08

im trying to lose 20 lbs by halloween, i just started today so i havent lost anything yet but i have a feeling it going to be really hard to lose the weight. i chose lose the weight by halloween because thats like the start of vacations so i want to look good.

my goal is to lose 20 pounds by halloween too! I am going to try my best, I hope I can do it. I am starting tommorow!

I'd like to join in too. I am doing more of a life style change but could use the motivation of a date to help me along

Ht: 5'5''

start weight 234 (March 28, 2008)

Current weight 199

Goal weight: Well let's say it's more than 20lb but I'm taking it a little at a time.

My short term goal is to get exercising more consistantly.  I'm usually much better when the kids go back to school so the timing of this is great.

Hi guys - I need a good strong challenge group to lose 20pounds

Current weight 145-146

Goal Weight - 125

Ultimate Goal - 120 (my happy weight)

I do the 'Biggest Loser' Challenge Power Sculpt DVD (Bob kicks my ass) & Denise Austin Boot Camp DVD and I also Jump Rope for about 20-40 Cardio in between and during the 2 DVD's...I am getting back on drinking 80oz of H20 -- I realized it helped me lose weight faster when I was disciplined... I also am focusing on eating fresh fruits/veggies/lentils etc., Just eating clean ... no greasy foods / fried foods / pizza / beer etc.,

My Vices ; WINE!!!!!!!!!
... How is everyone? I really would like a nice challenge group that is really tight and supports and motivates in a positive way... By October I HAVE to be back to normal weight... it's not an option this is my commitment* Innocent ...soraya

I'm in!!!

I started counting on 19th June, already 23 lbs down.

SW: 201.8

CW: 178.6

GW: 132

So a 20lbs lose by halloween is a goal that would keep me right on track.

So, come on guys, we can do this toether!! :-)

And sorayazada, i'm with you on the wine, it IS my biggest temptation!! lol

Wow!  This is great!  I'm already feeling more motivated just knowing there are other folks out there working towards the same goal -- and so many of you have already accomplished so much!  CONGRATS!

Wine is totally a vice for me, too.  I work it into my calories, but I just know it's the main reason why I have plateaued for so long.  One of my personal goals is to keep the wine consumption to Friday and Saturday (I've tried totally cutting it out but that makes me want it more than if I give myself the weekend to enjoy a glass or two of wine!).

Let's work together to keep this thread bumped up and active.  Do we want to choose a day to weigh-in together?  I do my WIs on Tuesdays right now, but whatever works for everyone OR we can just stick to whatever WI days we're each already doing and check in with the group on Sunday evenings to give a report of how our week went prior and what we're hoping to accomplish the week coming up.  Does that work?

Anyone want to do exercise/ lifestyle change challenges, too?  I can post challenges and then if you'd like to participate you can -- same with lifestyle change challenges, too.

My weight loss has been relative slow and steady (with exeption of this summer plateau) on purpose.  I like to really try to make changes that I can stick to for the long haul.  I think it's working, too, because I lost 26 pounds and haven't gained anything back in a year.  Now I just really want to get rid of the last 15 pounds of baby weight -- the baby is now 18 months old! Undecided

Thanks for the great response and I look forward to working together!

Hi Stewmama

No I'm so glad that you are doing this thread. I did a wedding challenge in June and it worked for me. I did lose some people along the way but it helped me to lose weight working towards a goal. The only thing is after I decided to NOT weigh myself daily and then started a job that was high stress and I didn't work out for 2 wks and gained about 4-5 pounds from it :( ... so now i'm back to weighing myself daily in the AM to keep it in check.

Kim girl let me tell you Wine is my biggest down fall it's exactly the reason why I am stuck in the 140's for so long... but I can't help it! the only thing I do now is actually count it in my calorie intake so if I'm drinking wine I make sure to stay on fresh fruit/veggies/lentils low healthy cals but filliing enough that I won't go over my cal intake...

I just finished a 60 min cardio/strength training session / jumping rope session I feel wonderful ... I'm so excited ladies... I'm sooo ready to drop this 20 pounds the healthy way !!! woohoo let's motivate... Innocent

Hi Everyone!

I would like to join too!

I have also been stuck in the 140s for about 3 years now, after a 20 pound weight loss.  Now I'm in my 30s and I want to get back down to the 130s or even the 120s!

SW= 144

CW= 144

GW= 127

I do a lot of yoga, bike as much as I can and would like to start jogging again.  I just LOVE to eat, and have a huge weakness for chips and salsa!

Now we can all plan to get awesome Halloween costumes!

I'm in.

Our stats are almost identical, though you exercise tonnes more then me :/

Age: 28

Height: 5'6"

Current: 158

Goal: 140

I've been maintaining the past 6 months after loosing almost 40lbs, just haven't had the motivation to kick it up a notch.. until now - I gained 5lbs in the past 2 months.. and I think about that as I reach for second helpings, even if it's healthy food now I have to tell myself that doesn't mean I can double up!  I'm not even sure when these bad habits started to creep back.

Welcome aboard!  Wow!  You're right, berryBlue, our stats are identical!  That will be extra motivating! Laughing

Hello, I'd like to join in if you all would have me :)

I'm 5'5" at 170 right now; my eventual goal is 130 (so I'm making my Halloween goal 150).

I never had problems until I hit college -- it turns out the combination of stress, depression (since I was 8), and emotional eating was too much for me.  Add that to getting an undergraduate degree in 4 years for a 5 year program and I almost never exercised!  Things haven't been better this past year working on a masters while serving as a teaching assistant (though it's been loads of fun).

Mainly my motivation is to fit into my old jeans by December (where I may graduate with my masters -- whoo!).  Now that'd be a graduation gift!

What exercises do you all enjoy?  I'm working my way back into jumping rope -- I loved it when my elementary school participated in Jump Rope for Heart.

Count me in too! My name is Kathi and I am (once again) at the beginning of my weight loss instead of the end like some of you. I lost 30 pounds with CC then had knee replacements and sort of lost focus. I jazzercise 3-4 times per week and am sooo grateful to be moving again :-)

Weight now close to 190, 170 by Halloween sounds very do-able! Cheers!

Count me in.  My current challenge ends Aug 25, so this will get me thru the next leg.  Smile  Saturday's are my official weigh-in days, so will start with this past Saturday's weight.

Overall goal is 155 by the end of the year.  1.5 pounds per week.

I'm walking 2 miles/day most days.  Plan to up that to 3 miles/day as soon as I can increase my speed to 3mph.  More than an hour on the treadmill and I start getting bored.

Stewmama - don't feel bad.  My baby weight is 8 years old and in 3rd grade.  LOL!  She weighs 55 pounds, which is exactly the difference between what I weighed when getting pregnant and my all-time high (which actually came about a year AFTER she was born).  20 of that 55 is gone.  YAY!  35 to go.  I can no longer pick her up.  How I was carrying around an extra 55 pounds at one time boggles the mind.   I never thought of it as being that much until the moment I realized the extra weight was the same as her weight and I can't pick her up.  Imagine carrying around an 8 year old 24/7.  No wonder I stay tired.

I am in also. I have a 4 month old and a 3 year old and I really need to lose the weight I put on while pregnant and then some.

I do own a treadmill but it is so boring to get on it. Does anyone have any tips or ideas on how I can get exercise in with 2 little ones? I would love to be able to work out for at least 1 hour straight everyday but I honestly don't ever have an hour straight to myself. I really do well with the buddy system however all of my friends are very overweight and only stick with a work out program for so long before they start to make excuses as to why they cant work out with me anymore... I am sick of it. So I am hoping that this sort of buddy system works the same way. I work part-time and go to school full time. I am home with my babies whenever I am not at school and between watching them and keeping the house clean while trying to study, I do have my hands full. This is a wonderful idea to do and I am definitely ready for a new approach! Thanks!

WOW you really do have alot going on! I am a grandma to 4 little boys - way less stressful than being a parent! They sure have alot of energy though. I wonder if your college has a workout room or something that you could hit for a half hour before you head home? I have taken a couple cool classes like tai chi at our community college also.

My oldest daughter's kids are 1 and 3, she carries the younger one around in a backpack all the time - something must be working (probably chasing 2 boys) because she is slimmer than I have ever seen her (she is 33).

Anyway, keep checking in, and I am going to add you to my friend list if that is ok ?
