Anyone trying to Lose 15-20 pounds by Halloween?

I have been messing around with this last leg of my weight loss journey for far too long. I'm really going to get serious about this last push and wondered if anyone else is in a similar situation and would like to help motivate each other?

Here are my stats, too:

5'6" female

157

28.9% BF (would like to be 25%)

Goal is 140

Moderate Activity Daily (I'm a SAHM with 3 little ones who keep me hopping!)

40 min. cardio 3-4 times a week, 90 min cycling once a week, 30 min. strength 3-4 times a week

(edit: added links to weigh-in form)

That walk across America looks interesting!  I do most of my exercise as walking at the moment, mostly because my left ankle "put it's foot down" on the jumping rope exercises Laughing

I woke up at 4 AM and was wide awake so I went walking.  I did 1 mile at a slow pace for the to-and-from where I like to walk.  And then I did 4 miles there at about 4 mi/hour.  That's all I did today though.  Still not accomplishing much though.  I had to email my major professor to set up a progress report meeting in the hopes it kicks me into gear.  I am burnt out, I tell ya.  Love the project, but summer is bad for getting things done!  Anyway, that's my school rant and update :)

slafer - that spreadsheet is great!

sorayazada - I do go swimming in my daughters bf's pool. Just not often. The dr did say water therapy will help. But I won't go to a pool where people will see me in a bathing suit! Not til next summer when I lose all the weight I want to lose.  Then I may ask them to prescribe it for me and I can go to this facility by me for the therapy. It does feel great to be in a pool. :D

Today was my dr appt and the dr said if this leg pain doesn't subside I should consider an epidural steroid injection to get it to go away. I've had them before and I wound up in bed for 2 weeks in pain from it. And I didn't get any relief from it. And I won't take a stupid medrol dose pak bc all I do is eat when I take those. And I run around like crazy for the 1st few days (it's a 7 day pak).

So I'll wait and see if it lets up on its own. I hope tomorrow is a better day for me. :D

Good nite everyone!

Thank you so much for the support!  I weighed myself today and I'm down 2 pounds, so now I'm at 127.  FYI, I'm new on this site, so having a little trouble navigating at times  Embarassed...lol.  Also, I forgot to tell my age (which is 25!)

I'm a little bummed because in my profile it projects my weight loss to be finished ~Oct 23!!  Thats sooo far away for 9 pounds.  I don't expect to it be instant, but that seems skewed!

Soy- I was worried about really letting myself go too, and even when I saw the pounds creeping on all summer I convinced myself that it was ok.  I didn't get serious until I tried on every pair of my jeans and they were all too small!  My husband doesn't want me to lose any more weight and my friends keep telling me I look fine...but I'm just not happy with myself and I'm determined to get to my goal.  I'm definitely drinking tons of water and trying to chug ahead...

Hi, VeryVegan!  When you have less weight left to lose, it tends to come off much more slowly, so don't get discouraged!  You already lost 2 pounds!

I wouldn't worry too much about the computer says for time frame.  That's a projected date based on what your calorie daily goal is and the activity level daily deficit you plugged in when you set-up your account.  If you've lost two pounds this week, then you're right on track and will possibly lose the 9 pounds sooner than the projected date.  The slower you lose the more likely to keep the pounds off, so slow isn't a bad thing. Laughing You're doing great!

I'm heading out to the gym because the child center is open and we can't be cooped up one second longer!  Ugh!

Stewmama, thanks for the vote of confidence!  I know I'm being paranoid about my weight loss, but I feel like a yo-yo!  I just want to be at my goal weight and figure out how to maintain it.  Sounds so easy, though it's anything but.  I'm out of the office in 30 min and heading to the gym too!  I have a lot to run off today  :)

I know you've been at this post for a few days now, but I'd really love it if I could join.  I'm 5'6" and 24 years old (25  in 3 weeks).

SW: 168 lbs

CW: 151 lbs

GW: 135 lbs

I've been working towards this goal for eight weeks now and have been really happy with my progress.  Although lately I've found it really hard to stay motivated since no one else around me is in the same boat.

I hate exercising for the purpose of exercising so I don't have a gym membership or an exercise machine.  Instead I try to get involved in activities that give me the exercise I need and that I can also enjoy. For example, my husband wanted to go rafting down the river yesterday, which usually means laying on a dingy drinking beer, but we compromised and I rowed the boat for the entire 2 hours, Woot Woot!

I've found this post to be really motivating just by reading through all of the messages.  Thank you everyone!

Hi guys

I really did not get any sleep last night I fell asleep at 530am then my daughter woke me up at 7am looking for things ... so i managed to get some sleep in but feel drunk or hung over even though i didn't drink...I don't know why I couldn't sleep last night... I have horrible night terrors sometimes and I think I was avoiding a panic attack... I have a pain in my right side so don't know if I want to work out to aggravate it... maybe a walk. I need to clear my head. I don't think I'm stressed out or depressed? Oh well regardless today will be a healthy day for me I vow to drink my water and do some kind of excersice. I snuck and weighed myself this am I'm still at 144.2 hoping by tomorrow the weight will adjust to 142... gotta drink my water! Welcome linsayaudi ---

stewmama - I miss the rain soooo much here in la we don't get it much :/

momof2- i feel like that about being in a bathing suit, that's why i go to an all womens gym...I had an epidural and it actually aggravated my disc's more it's dangerous / I did accupuncture and it was the only thing that helped me walk again... I also used Arnica' which you can get at whole foods it's a homeopathic gel for spinal injuries and sprains / arthritis --- try new methods if old ones are painful... I am a believer of accupuncture it does wonders and I walked after 2 sessions!

Welcome, Lindsayaudi!  Glad you found us!  Our first WI is tomorrow, so we'll be using that as our starting weight on our journey together.

Soraya -- sleep deprivation feels EXACTLY like being hungover -- you're not wrong to think that!  If it's a fairly regular occurence for you, it could also be hindering your WL progress.  I've read several places that in order for your body to rest and repair itself and rid waste and toxins at night, you need at least 6-7 hours of sleep.  Easier said than done sometimes!  Did you have an unusual amount of sugar or caffeine yesterday, especially late in the day?  I got into a bad habit of having just ONE cup of coffee around 3 pm every day for a few weeks this summer and it really messed with my sleeping.  I could never fall asleep until midnight or later, which isn't good when the baby gets up at 6 every day!  I'll send the sandman your way tonight in hopes that you can get some much needed zzzzzzzzzss Smile.

I have a herniated disc in my neck that can really lay me out sometimes.  I've often wondered if acupuncture would be helpful.  Thank you for the info!

It felt great to get to the gym.  We all needed a break -- I will gladly send this rain to LA or TN or wherever -- we've had 20" of rain in 2 days!  The flooding is really terrible in some parts of our county.  We've been really fortunate, though.

Have a good night!  Good luck with WI tomorrow!

sorayazada ~ I'll look into acupuncture and see if it fits me. I can't imagine having night terrors. Sometimes on shows on tv they talk about night terrors and toalk to people who have them and it sounds awful!  Have you always gotten them?

Today the pain is a little less, so maybe finally this flare up is going away. The dr asked me if I did any laundry. I did alot the day before this started. She said the stretching of the nerve caused the flare up. I ususally don't do alot of laundry at once, but I wanted it done and over with. I shoulda known better!

Can't wait for tomorrows WI!  Now we can get started! :D  I love this thread and the people in it!  You ladies are great! I think we are all ladies! lol

Will return tomorrow for the weigh in!  Good luck everyone!  :D

Do we post our weight on the forum or do we put it on the spreadsheet?

I'd like to join you all even though you've been going for a week already.  My goal is to loose 5-10 lbs. and Halloween sounds like a good target date.  I'm always really slow at loosing, so it'll be a challenge for me.  I haven't been keeping track of my exercise lately, but I think I'll try to aim for 4 days a week bicycling and weights at home or going to the gym.  Plus walking to work as many days as I can.

Ok, so here's my weigh in....

SW (on CC): 203

SW (on this challenge): 178.6

CW: 177.6

GW (for Halloween):157/162

GW: 132

Hope that made sense. So that's a 1 pound lose since we started. :-) Hope everyone had a good week.

My goals for next week..... -Start exercising. To start with at least 20 mins cardio and some stuff with weights. to ease me in. -Drink more water. -Cut down on the lovely wine!!!

Really looking forward to doing this with you guys!! It's just what i need to push on to the next stage.

edit: Clarified stats cause i'm an idiot and confused myself! :-)

Glad to see it is of use, let me know if any changes, additions or suggestions! Laughing

le400-

Right now, the form is directly linked to the spreadsheet. This means that all you have to do is simply fill out the form, and all the responses will auto magically appear in the spreadsheet in the proper places.

Hay everyone,

I made some changes, Colors for the spreadsheet, additions to the form and some basic calculations. I also added a spot in the for called "my ideal buddy" thinking that if you post your intension's and someone else has the same, you can buddy up. It can be removed or omitted if to cumbersome, was a thought.

Red - Needs improvement

Yellow - Ok, but could be better

Green - Good, keep it up

I entered my updates on the sheet under week 2. (Down about 2 lbs!)

OK so not as good as everybody :(

I cleaned like a mad woman this week but did not to the walking or the elliptical.  I guess my body did not appreciate that :(

Will try to mix up the exercise next week.

Thought I would share the following link. You can sign up and get free coaching plan through power-bar's site.

SW (this forum)=165

Today=164

One pound down 19 to go.

Down one today.  I was hoping for more, but progress is progress :)

I hope it picks up once the semester starts and I can use the rec-center equipment.  Then I won't be restricted to very early morning work outs.

When I signed up, Aug 18:  174 lbs.

Aug 22:  174 lbs.

GW:  150 lbs.

I have lost 1.3 lbs in the last week though!  It should pick up once I get walking again.

Feeling alittle better, not quite the way it should feel though. May go ahead and take a short walk just to get some exercise.

Looks like everyone is showing progress. WAY TO GO!!! Laughing
