If I was to spread a nice even layer of 320 sticks of butter all over my body, me plus butter weight would equal what I weighed in January. Mmmmm . . . butter. I would like to wring out another around 70 sticks of butter before I go to a maintenance eating plan. Maybe instead I should try to get this monkey off my back (average weight of a adult male rhesus monkey is about 7.7 kilos).
Do you have any imagery like that that you think about your in terms of your own weight loss? Please share.
Reason: 7/15/08: Stickied for one week; 7/28/08 unstickied.
Ha!!! This cracks me up--I also use the sticks of butter analogy in my head, but I go by the pound :(
60 packages of butter--that's what I have to lose (60*4=240 sticks?). I've lost 10 packages (40 sticks!) so far--wow, as I type this, I like the stick analogy better!!!
:D
That's great - haha!
I just sometimes think in bags of sugar - as of this morning I have now lost 5, 5lb bags!
I have been working on a 40# weight loss - I always say I need to lose a small child off my body! Ha! Thanks for sharing!
I've lost 220 sticks of butter! great analogy!
I couldn't imagine carrying him around with me all day.
Oh and to add - that my goal is to lose my 4 year old child too! Or another 35-40 lbs...
I read your profile Durgy and I like your spirit. You mentioned not taking a before and after shot, but the close up on your face side-by-side shot says a lot. You have done a great job.
Your butter analogy is inspiring too. From my highest weight of 230 pounds till now, I have melted off 200 sticks of butter and I have another 140 sticks to go. Just 60 more sticks till I am no longer in the obese category.
I've lost nearly four gallons of milk since I first started eating better!
(A gallon of milk weighs about 8.5 pounds, for those who don't know. :) )
Hooray!
Just another 4 or 5 gallons to go! :giggle:
That butter imagery is funny and inspiring.
I guess I lost about 4 newborn babies worth of weight from my highest of 190 around 10 years ago. My recent weight loss is equal to more than the big bag of corn tortilla masa in my cabinet.
Yes; I've lost about sixty pounds (it varies) so far, and my older cat weighs about fifteen. I think about what it'd be like to carry four of her around all the time, and that I actually did do that.
I think of 5 lb bags of potatoes. I've lost 30 pounds...that's 6 bags of potatoes!
I think of the 20 pound bags of kitty litter we buy. I've lost two of those, plus a 7 pound bag of cat food on top of it. It would be a challenge for me to carry all of that at one time (although I could do it thanks to my weight training!), so it's insane to think that I used to carry it around every day all the time.
Oooh what a great visual. Pounds of butter melted away. For me it would be about 208 sticks of butter.
But imagine the caloric value of what what you have lost. Place it into your used-to-be favorite food, your old Achilles Heel, and then see what it would equal.
I have lost 52 lbs. (182,000 Calorie deficit). My old favorite was the Krispy Kreme Glazed Doughnut (200 Calories each). I have burned off the equivalent of 910 individual doughuts or 76 dozen Krispy Kreme Glazed doughnuts.
Ive lost about 4 cats(using my 1 year old 12 pound cat as a basis) :)
5 bags of chocolate chips gone...
and I DIDN'T eat them...
Now to get rid of that JUMBO bag 3 more times.
Haha, I am going to spend a lot more time in the dairy aisle this week visualizing the 30 packages of butter I've lost. Too bad I've still got 20 packages to go.
sorry for the stupidity. ha, im just a wee confused.
There's 4 sticks of butter to a pound.
I'm still working on losing one more 10 lb bowling ball... Eek! :)
well i have lost about 300 small bananas:)
I've lost 4435.2 Hershey's kisses.
Where can I see 1/8th or 1/6th of a pie or angel food cake?
This is the best way to picture a portion of pie or cake: Draw a circle to represent the circumference of the cake or pie (9" pie? 10" cake?... Read more
