How can I stop binging after 6 o'clock?
Asked by targetweight on Nov 04, 2009 in Weight Loss

I only tend to eat biscuits and crackers.  I am only focussed on food.

Answer

When you think of binging, check to see whether or not you are hungry - and if you are hungry, then eat!   Binging can result from dropping your intake too low.  If that's your problem, then set your calorie target to the amount you need to maintain ideal weight.  (That's 1600-1700 calories a day for you.) Don't be overly-restrictive with your diet.  But if you are not hungry, see if  guided imagery can squelch your panic.  Either way, try to figure out what you are feeling.  Binging is often a misguided attempt to self-sooth and cover up deep feelings. Write in a journal, talk to a trusted friend, walk, meditate, pray, or go to counseling to change unhealthy practices and learn from your behaviors.
