If i stop exercising, will I not lose weight?

It is making me very tired and irritable. And I literally DREAD it all day. I don't want to do anything that makes me miserable anymore.

Being tired be more an issue of how much you are eating - a few weeks ago, you posted that you were eating around 1200 - which is far too low for you, since you are a teen.

exercising is good for your body, so i'd recommend continuing to do so.  however, having said that, if you do decide to stop exercising, you will need to lower your calorie intake accordingly in order to continue to lose weight.  you'll be giving up both the calories burned by exercising as well as the calories burned by the metabolism boost which follows exercise.

so stopping exercising IS an option, just one i don't recommend.

the real problem may be that whatever type of exercise you do (is it running? biking? cross-training? elliptical machines? workout classes? sports?) just isn't right for you.  if you run for exercise, but you hate running, DON'T DO IT!  why not play a sport, or try a new exercise, or simply just take very long walks with a friend on a regular basis?  exercise is great for your body and great to help weight-loss, so the true issue may be that whatever you're doing for exercise just isn't something that makes you happy... but something else out there may be the perfect choice

good luck :)

edit to say: if you are indeed a teen that is undereating, though, the previous poster is probably correct - you hate exercise because you're not nourishing your body enough to do it

For the past few weeks I have been eating A LOT and my sleeping patterns are still messed up.

Well, when I was a teen, I was often tired and irritable. It just kinda goes together with having your hormones all crazy.

But slimabear is right - there are lots of ways to be active, and maybe you just need to find one that is more satisfying.

What have you been doing?

I really, really want to join a gym because i love it there but I am too young.
I dont see how else I can exercise.

Um, seriously? Go for a walk. Go for a bike ride. See if there are inter-mural games after school that you can get involved in. Talk to your gym teacher and get suggestions. My middle school and high school both had weight rooms - your gym teacher could teach you how to lift.

You should still lose weight without exercising if you restrict your calorie intake to 1200 - 1600, but really exercising is fun! You just need to find something you like. Have you tried playing basketball or soccer? How about jumping jacks? Even maybe taking an exotic dancing class? They are SO FUN, you don't even feel like you are exercising. Seriously.

ilisa - the op is a teen, and therefore should not be eating less than 1500. Please don't recommend eating less than that to teens.

I *HATE* exercising with a passion, but I've still managed to lose 20 lbs on diet alone.  I don't recommend you cutting your calories too low, especially at your age, or your mind and body will suffer the consequences.  You'll be tired, stunned, and cranky, and it'll make it harder to lose weight, since your body will hold on to your calories much tighter if put into "starvation mode."

Does your school have a fitness centre?  If not, see if any neighbouring schools do, and if you can join if you pay student fees.  If not, then just do as much exercise as you can.  I cycle while I watch t.v. for a half hour a few days a week, and I don't push myself to go as fast as I can, either.  I do sit-ups and push-ups during the commercials other days, and some days I just go for a long walk with the dog.

Seriously though, looking at your picture, you don't look very big.   I would focus on being healthy rather than being thin.
