stopping counting affecting weight?
so ive realised that im only 15 years old and should be living up my life right now and not worring about counting everything. it makes every situation where food is involved so hard because i always want to count. so ive decided im going to try to stop counting and see how it goes.
im at a weight i wanna be at right now but do you think stopping the calorie counting would affect my weight? i just wnat to be able to relax about it and focus on other things!
The best solution I've found so far—especially while still fighting anorexia—is to not count during the day, but make a rough total at the end of the day to make sure you're eating enough. It frees you up so much, because you don't have to do things like count out every cherry tomato like I did during the worst of my ED. You just guess (although I don't even count raw vegetables at the end of the day).
Not counting has freed me so much! It's unbelievable. :) Best of luck!
xoxoxo Okie
It is possible to not count calories. :)
The trick is to eat until you're full, and eat slowly. Just be careful and watch what you eat.
This rather depends on whether you're at a healthy weight rather than just a 'weight you want to be at'.... If you were underweight, of course, then you'd need some kind of spot-checks otherwise you could very easily not be eating enough.
Alternative to calorie-counting is working with a set amount of portions of different food-groups. It's a more visual and arguably more natural way to eat.
I really want to do this too. It feels like an addiction and I'm 19 and shouldn't be so wrapped up in this. Today is my birthday and I'm determined not to count for the first time in a long time. I'm going to have birthday cake for the first time in 2 years and go out for dinner to my favourite restaurant and have what I WANT, not what my ED voice is saying I should or shouldn't have. I really take inspiration from you OKIE and hope that I can feel as liberated as you do by stopping counting.
I've already won my first ED battle of the day and also haven't counted breakfast. *I think I can, I think I can, I think I can...*
Except you're still underweight, alexa.
I think you need to go and speak to your doctor about a meal exchange plan if you don't want to be counting because you still need to gain weight.
Yeah, I'm going to have to second what Lala said if you are still severely underweight. There's really no room to take chances, unfortunately. You have to be 100% sure that you are getting enough!
Raspberrydreams: Aw, thank you! :') How are you doing so far? And great job on taking that first step! Feel free to message me to chat or if you need anything, keep fighting girlie! You're well on your way! I know you can, I know you can, I know you can...
