Stopping when full problem - unusual?
Okay
I find it really hard to stop eating when I'm hungry because even if I'm starving when I start, after a couple of bites I don't feel hungry anymore!
I then don't feel anything unless I've overeaten and then I feel stuffed.
Obviously I can't just stop a meal after 2 bites - I'd be hungry again 10 minutes later, and I wouldn't get everything I need.
Any advice? I really want to learn to listen to my body but :
I'm forever struggling with this. I find the best solution is just slow down - a lot. I've noticed that it takes about 20-30 minutes after the food hits my stomach for me to actually feel it. So I'll either eat really really slowly if I have time; or I'll just eat a little then force myself to wait 20-30 minutes. Then if I'm still hungry (which I'm ususally not after that much time) I can eat more.
Try to reasonably portion your meals before you begin eating. Try to get an idea of how many calories it is. If you tend to lose the feeling of hunger after a few bites, you'll know you can still finish what you've put on your plate without overeating or feeling stuffed. Most people have the opposite problem like elvin related to.
I drink about two full glasses of water with each meal, it fills me up while i'm eating. it really works. :]
try it a couple of times,

I have the same problem. A couple of bites and my stomach's happy!! It's supposed to help if you eat really slowly, but it doesn't help me. I suspect part of the reason for me is that I never really am hungry before I start eating. I eat frequent small meals to keep my metabolism working, so it's rarely more than three hours since I last ate.
What I do to compensate is start with a meal containing the amount of food I want/need to eat. If someone else has plated the meal, I sort out the amount I want to eat before I start and just go with that. One day, my body might get the message and work with me on this :)
