Stopping Late-night Snacking

Quote  |  Reply

I need help! How do I stop late night snacking? I do so well all day long until about 9pm and then I can't keep my hands out of the fridge and cupboards. I eat breakfast every day. I even tried eating a later dinner but that just means later snacking! Lately I have been drinking water, as I read somewhere, but that just holds me over for about 20 minutes. Anyone have some other suggestions?

I have the same problem, but I've found two ways where I can go about it.  The easy way is having a cup of coffee or tea late at night, something that takes me a long time to finish.  If I get a sweet craving with it -- hard candy.  The twenty cals of five pieces of good hard candy is still better than alot of other things.

The hard way; pre-portioned snacks.  Stay under 200 cals with them and it should be alright.  I have particular difficulty with this because I can portion it all out and put the rest away (or buy some of those snack sized bags of something), and still go back for a second one.

What I really wish is that my pantry and fridge locked at nine!  Then I couldn't get into them until the morning.

Good luck!

ive discovered 2 ways to combat this. A late work out at the gym, if you arent at home you cant have your face in the fridge. Secondly dont buy the stuff you late night snack on. I know i crave deserts so i only ever keep one in the house, no other junk, its unlikely you are going to make the effort to march to the local shop to buy chocolate so problem solved - well kind of :-)

Maybe try drinking different water? Perrier (carbonated) always does it for me. :]

Also,  if you are just sitting around with cravings, try doing some stretching/yoga or listen to your favorite music- or both! Anything to keep your mind off of food.

Sugar-Free Gum works for me!
