Strange bruises!! This is weird!

Quote  |  Reply

Has anyone else had this problem?

I just got a new pilates DVD so I tried it out and I loved it, but later in the day I noticed that I had rather large bruises on and around my knees!

Is this just because I'm so fat that my knees can't handle the weight or is it because I'm using muscles that haven't been used in a while?

It's really gross and embarassing! I look like I've been trying to run into the coffee table!! lol!!

check back to last week  i saw a post on this before. i bruise easily so i always wake up looking like ive beaten myself up.

if you feel brusied but it doesnt show then this is the muscles being damaged and strained - its kind of normal when you start a new excersie but should stop after a few days/sessions
I am not sure what could have caused your bruises, but I bruise easily and my doctor told me to drink orange juice to make the bruises heal. Hope this helps!
Bruising easily can also be a sign of protein deprivation, in addition to vitamin deficiencies. If you're not a martial artist and wake up bruised it's a bad sign - you should go see your doctor to have some blood work done.

There is also the possibility that the bruises are a sign of weight loss.  Every pound we lose means a bunch of capulairies are out of a job, bunch together, and that means easy bruising.

Melkor is right.  If you have easy access to a Doc, get a blood test.

an Iron deffecency can cause easy bruising. Also a Sprained muscle can cause bruising. My husband pulled a muscle in his thigh last year playing baseball and his whole upper leg and knee bruised for about 3 weeks.
Iron supplements. You may not be getting enough, which would cause bruising. I bruise easily too if I'm not getting enough iron. If so, that's something you can easily tend to to make sure you start getting enough.  Try that. I believe it may be exactly what your problem is. But, of course if not...doctors do know best.

It could just be spending more time on your knees than you are used to.  I took a pole dancing class once, and my knees were totally banged up from kneeling on a hard floor.  You might want to try wearing kneepads until your knees get used to crawling around on the floor.

ohhhhhhhhh myyyyyyyyyyyyyy godddddddddddddddd!!!

i toooooootally had the same bruising experiences like you!!

when id wake up, id have bruises, usually like on my upper arms and on the side of my thighs. it was wicked =S

but now, i don't have that anymore..

come to think about it... i used to have lots of these bruises when i was suffering from ana last year...

so maybe it was from malnutrition????
It's probably that you're just not used to it! I'm Irish/German (with the complexion that entails!) and my mother and I BOTH get phantom bruises.  They just show up some mornings! I'm sure you'll be okay!
