I was playing ultimate frisbee with some friends yesterday and one of my teammates accidentally nailed me in the face, so now the bridge of my nose is a swollen bruise. For some reason, it now hurts to bite down too hard/chew hard things, so I was just wondering what I can do to make it heal faster/feel better? I tried an ice pack, but it just doesn't curve around my nose (even the squishy ones), so I'm not really sure what to do...
Yes, you can feel free to laugh now. After you give me advice, at least. =P
EDITED: Yes, I know I can eat soft things. But I don't want to and would rather just fix my nose. =P
eat soft things. ;)
lol just eat soft food and keep icing it the best you can. I got hit in the face w. a soft ball because I wasnt paying attention so I know your pain. Its bruised it should start gettin better in a day or so. If it doesnt you should see a doctor to make sure it wasnt fractured.
A bag of frozen peas might work better than an ice pack.
When my sinuses act up, I can feel it in my teeth, so my guess is that it is a similar situation, but I don't know of any way to make it heal faster.
try some advil... it will help with the pain and the swelling
How do you know it is not broken?
I've never had a broken nose so I don't know what it feels like but perhaps you should call your doctor?
Hope it feels better!
Frozen peas are the way to go for icing.
Thanks for the advice! I tried the frozen peas, but unfortunately, still general pain, though it is slightly lessened!
I didn't think it was bad enough that it was broken! It's hard to tell if it's crooked or not since the top has a lump on it, but how would I know without having to go to the doctor?
Thanks again!
I think you might want to see a doctor, the same thing happened to me and I ignored it since I only had a little bruising but it turns out that my nose was fractured and healed incorrectly. It's better to be safe than sorry especially if you're in so much pain, go see a doc!
I have broken my nose 2x. First time was courtesy of a softball and me trying to be a hotshot by flipping off the catchers mask too late. The other was something completely different but on both times I heard it crack. I didn't get any black eyes either, though some will tell you that is a sure sign of a broken nose. Had it set the second time by a doctor, relatively painless in comparison but since it had been broken the first time and not set correctly, it is still a bit crooked! (It's a sign of character, as my mom would say!)
Not sure about fractures though...
