are amazing!
An entire 250g punnet of strawberries is only 80 calories!
I mean, a medium sized apple tastes alright, and is low cal...
But strawberries really taste like you're having a treat, especially when you sprinkle a pinch of equal on them :)
Strawberries make me happy
:)
Ooh, agreed. I just got fresh strawberries and cherries and I've been going a little crazy on them; i'm such a sucker for berries.
Strawbs seem so sweet they must be bad,...but they're not! It's great.
If I am having a good day, I have them with greek yoghurt and honey.
If not, on their own they are great too! Today will be a greek yog day methinks! yum yum yum ![]()
what is a 250 g punnet? In the US we go by pints... is that the pint?
Ah strawberries. Those beautiful, red berries.
I love love love strawberries. I had a phase where I was eating a 2 lb. package a day! They are just so damn tasty. I like them plain. Sour and sweet. :)
I love strawberries so much that I am getting a strawberry vine tattoo on my ankle (partly because I love the berries, and partly because it is my tribute to the Shire/Sam).
Yes, I like strawberries too (pineapple is my most favourite fruit) followed by strawberries.
I was just wondering how do people eat their strawberries?? I just have them on their own or with a Muller Light Strawberry yoghurt- but I have heard people having them with black pepper and also balsamic vinegar- anybody tried this??
Also, I was shopping in Waitrose a few weeks ago and I came across something new- Strasberries- they are like a cross between a strawberry and a rasberry, they are really a wild strawberry. Has anybody tried them?? I wanted to try them but at £4 for a tiny punet- I decided they were too expensive.
I love going to my local food store by my job b.c they have a lunch cafeteria inside and they sell salmon so I get that and a tub of cut and washed strawberries and its just amazing for my lunch.
I cant wait to start buying cherries and bringing them to the beach to much on instead of chips.

A punnet is the name for the small basket or container that holds soft fruit or stonefruit... 250g is the weight (about 9oz if you're using imperial measures)

i cut them up really small and put sweetener on them, unless they really don't need it.
try the new Truvia sweetener, it is all natural and also it has NO Calories!!
Ohh I love strawberries, I eat them everyday. I grow some as well, they are just starting to form now so I hope its a good crop this year:-).
I eat mine with yogurt, on their own, pop some into whatever cereal Im eating, I really like them with shredded wheat.
Ive heard of people cooking them in balsamic vinegar as well, I cant remember the exact way but I think they put them in tinfoil, put some balsamic over them and baked them in the oven. Im sure you could google it. Add them to crumbles?
I used to make a really nice strawberry bread, it was a pleasant change for a snack. Theres lot you can use them for!
I was just saying how strawberries this season have been so good. Don't even need sugar or sweetner. I like them plain but also in yogurt, with cool whip,in cereal. You can dip them in chocolate for a healthy treat or top frozen yogurt with it.
After putting a little 0 cal sweetner on them and letting them melt down a little I put them on 2 Kashi GoLean Blueberry waffles this morning instead of the sugar free syrup ...Soooo Good! 219 calories!!! And it looked really great, like something on a commercial.
oh man! i had no idea how low cal strawberries are!! :D
Salivating for strawberries! That's got to be a good sign of a lifestyle change in progress.
Good times...
We're in the mid of winter here (South Africa) so there's no fresh strawberries or cherries to be had
Bad times...
I agree, strawberries are amazing! I just had some dipped in unsweetened cocoa powder and wow, DELISH!
I love 'em too. Tis the season, yeah!. If we're driving down the hill for a trip to the city we always stop for delicious ripe and sweet strawberries at the roadside fruit stands. I eat them plain. But, if I'm stuck with the supermarket ones and not so sweet, I put a pint in the blender with a little Trop50, water, ice and stevia if needed. Yummmmm. This slush is also great when you add some blueberries. , I'm working within a 1200 calorie day, so this is fabulous for me. I'll start putting yogurt in my smoothies again real soon, and a banana. :-)
Loving the English strawbs at the moment... and also the new season asparagus. A 250g bunch, lightly steamed and dressed with lemon juice and black pepper is only about 50 cals. Absolutely decadent.
yeah but its the great thumping itchy rash you get for eating them all that is the killer lol!
blueberries and raspberries are similar so my fridge is currently filled with berries for desserts at night, its great
Yay for strawberries! I carried my strawberry plant wih us when we moved, put it in a huge pot and waited with bated breath. This morning I went out to the garden to check on them and there are handfuls of whitish green berries, a couple with some pink starting to show. I'm so excited, there's nothing like home grown...anything!
Love strawberries. Fresh, with nothing on them is my personal fav.
My sister-in-law made a salad for a family get-together that was absolutely awesome.
Some kind of lettuce greens (wasn't iceberg, was darker)
cherry tomatoes
chopped strawberries (not real huge, not real small)
walnuts
some kind of raspberry vinagrette dressing
Most amazing salad I've ever eaten (and I normally won't touch salad dressings because I don't like 'em).
