Strawberry Cake: Yum...
This recipe I got it from my boyfriend's brother's wife. She's losing weight, and is a pro cook..and so she gave me this awesome recipe for the most delicious cake ever. You'd drool if you tasted it, since I did last week.
And what's most amazing is, it serves 24 people, YET - each serving only has 50 cals or so in it. Definitely worth a try:
Strawberry Cake 9x13 (pan, I suppose)
Serves: 24 size of each serving: 29 grams (give or take)
Ingredients:
cake:
1 box white superMoist cake mix (Betty Crocker. You can buy it at walmart)
3/4 cups water
1 cup applesauce
3 egg whites
1 (6-ounce) yoplait lite strawberry yogurt
Mix all together and make at 350 degrees for 35-40 mins.
Topping:
1 (6-ounce) strawberry yogurt
1 (6-ounce) lite coolwhip whipped cream
Blend into a slightly thick, puffy topping and top that cake once it's cooled down enough. You can cool it for as long as you want, or you can have it slightly warm ;]
Garnish with sliced strawberries if desired.
Yummy made from heaven. I swear.

mmm sounds good!
Yummy. It seems so easy.
I like to stay away from sweets as much as possible but I may consider making this for Easter. Sounds like a cool recipe.
Is the applesause unsweetened.
I'm sure that it is but just want to make sure
Thanks

Myself, I always use the unsweetened applesauce in a recipe. The mixes already have plenty of sugar in them.
30somthing; I believe so. @_@~ But I'm going to try it both with sweetened and unsweetened applesauce.
wow- this does look good- I might have to try a test run tonight...this would be a perfect Easter cake!

Is there anything I can substitute for the yogurt?
You could top it with Cool Whip, or anything you like. It sounds sweet enough that just a dusting of powdered sugar would make a fine topping.
MMMM- Yummy! I made this cake this weekend and topped it with FF whip cream and fresh sliced strawberries- Everyone one loved it. The cake was so moist! Thanks so much for this wonderful delight.
Isn't there a lot of sugar already in the cake mix?
I made this cake tonight for myself and friends and it was super moist! They loved it and went back for seconds and were fascinated by the fact that I added applesauce and yogurt to the cake mix. :)
However -- at 24 servings (which is pretty realistic for a 9x13 pan), each serving is closer to 100 cal. Just the cake mix alone has 170 cal in 1/12 of the box, meaning 85 cal in 1/24.
I did use unsweetened apple sauce, for those who were wondering, and it was PLENTY sweet. I might use yogurt with regular sugar next time because there was a bit of a fake sugar aftertaste, and also because I don't like serving fake sugar to people... not that the processed stuff is much better, but some people are opposed. Also, I just used strawberry yogurt as "icing" (didn't have any coolwhip on hand, but the yogurt was good) and half a strawberry on top because it looked pretty. :) I'd definitely make this again for a cake occasion!

Wonder what would hapeen if you used a low fat cake mix
Can I ask what ingredients you're MEANT to add ot the mix
Australia has all these mixes now which are add water only... so there's no saivng of cals, they've already put in the milk/egg etc. so it makes it higher in cals
