How to Strength Train? - For weight loss and muscle toning while in a tiny apartment
Hello!
After many years of struggling to manage my weight. I am finally over trying to lose weight without exercising, I am ready to commit to being active again!
From what I have read it seems that strength training is the way to go.
I want to start building muscle immediately... but I live in a tiny apartment and am not able to join a gym since I may be re - locating a few months from now.
I do have free weights, but they are extremely light (around 8 or 10 pounds).
Does anyone have any suggestions on websites, videos or whatever to consult regarding how to do a total body strength training workout using my own body as weights, and in my own apartment?

Check out Total Body for Beginners from Paige Waehner - it's a nice starting point, hits all the major muscle groups, and doesn't require a lot of equipment. You'd outgrow that workout pretty soon, but it's a nice starting point for getting into a routine.

I tried squats in my apartment and my thighs are killing me!
A couple of years ago I had legs of steel when on a crew team and now I can barely do four squats... It is crazy how out of shape you can be and not even realize it!

You'd have to sign in with an account, but they can give you a customized workout plan with videos based on what you have with you and what you want to tone. I also use Youtube and look for Pilates workout - someone posted the 10-minute solutions videos there and I use those so I don't have to buy the DVD myself. :P
