as a stress eater .. i think i agree with rainbow, first thing clean your closet no hidden chocolates, chips, serial bars ...etc. if you cant find it you cant eat it ... second start writing down your stress. instead of thinking and eating use your both hands to write what upsets you on paper trust me although this sounds soo much like dr phill but it works ...and finaly talk instead of eating call a friend or a family member .. for me i can hardly share therefore writing helped me alot
try EFT (www.emofree.com) techniques to get to the root cause of why stress triggers eating. it has made a difference for me. you've made the first step though in recognizing that stress causes you to eat.
During my exam week, I didn´t exercise at all and while studying I just wanted to be eating and eating, oh my god I went crazy I swear. But now that I´m done with school everything is normal, I go everyday to the gym and I eat healthy, and I don´t feel any desire of stuff myself with cookies or chocolates.![]()
I'm a stress/emotional eater too. It's hard not to go overboard but possible. Tonight for example, I had planned on eating a salad with some egg and sunflower seeds. But I got some bad news and instead of eating salad I made egg salad and had some carbs I hadn't planned on. Thankfully I had not had alot of calories during the day today so I had some extra calories to use up tonight. I also had a couple strawberries with lite cool whip too which helped me with the sugar need.
I agree with what's been said here already. Get rid of the junk in your closet and cupboards so when these times happen...and you know they will, you wont have anything to lose control on. If you have the healthier stuff to eat there you'll eat that and if you go overboard you wont feel as guilty.
Like tonight if I had had some rocky road ice cream in the freezer I would have had that for supper.
Good thing I got rid of it.
