Stress and Weight Gain? Depression?

Quote  |  Reply

Well this past school year I went through a TERRIBLE depression (my worst ever), but for the past month I've been feeling so much better. Last summer (before the depression hit) I weighed 120, wore a loose size 5/snug size 3 pant, and wore a size medium shirt. Now I weigh 140, wear a normal size 5 (snug size 3 on a good day) pant, and still a medium shirt. I'm pretty sure the weight that came on was stress/depression related, but my question is where is it all? I'm only slightly bigger than I was a year ago?

20lbs distributed evenly over an entire body can disappear quite easily, especially if you're reasonably well-muscled.  That's why it's questionable when someone is claiming an extra 3 or 4lbs is affecting their appearance.

thats seems unbelievable that after gaining 20 lbs you wear pretty much the same size, i'm pretty sure your numbers are wrong somewhere

I don't think so.  I've lost 20 lbs and am still wearing all the same clothes - it just depends on how/where you lose.  I tend to lose evenly all over.
