Stretched Skin
I've been very overweight my whole life. I'm 5'3" and weighing in at 247. I started working out a week and a half ago. I expect to lose the weight this time. My goal is to lose 100 lbs.
Anyway, I have a large stomach. Are there non surgical ways to help the skin stretch back? I was thinking today if body shapers would help since they suck your stomach in a little bit.
I also use lotion every day right after I shower.
Any suggestions or experiences?
Thank you!
I lost 80 pounds when I did the Calorie-Count thing, and honestly, I don't have stretchmarks. I don't have loose skin. I know some people are doomed to have it, and I figured that since I was fat my whole life (a whoppin' size 22/24 as a young teenager), I was doomed to have it, too.
I did nothing different. I didn't use special creams or body shapers, I didn't massage myself or take some random herbal concoction. I guess it was just my luck of the draw.
You never know what may happen. Though I hear vaseline is good for skin elasticity.
You'll either have it or you won't. I have it, but I would rather have it empty than full. Someday I'll have it removed but until then It's just a part of me and I know that it used to be full. (I did have a C -section with my daughter and that didn't help the cause)
Best of luck!
My doctor says it's based on your age and skin. If you're fairly young, odds are it won't be so bad for you.
Of course, there are those who think it's not really loose skin but more fat under the skin. Google that if you're curious.
Thank you guys!
I'm 20, and have had dry skin issues my whole life which is why I use lotion, but stretch marks aren't as visible as they could be. Maybe that's a good sign I won't have to have surgery.
I was reading about this the other day, and I found this article that tells why some have that loose skin and some don't. No clue if there is any validity to it, but judge for yourself if you're interested.
HI,
YOU LOOK YOUNG AND THAT IS THE BIGGEST BENEFIT TO NOT HAVING STRETCHED SKIN. AFTER A CERTAIN AGE, YOUR SKIN LOSES ITS ELASTICITY FOR GOOD. THAT AGE IS AROUND MID THIRTIES. YOU'RE LUCKY BECAUSE I THINK YOU PROBABLY ARE NOT EVEN CLOSE TO THAT AGE. ALSO, LOSING THE WEIGHT SLOWLY IS IMPORTANT, VERY IMPORTANT.
GOOD LUCK.
