Stretchmarks...?

Quote  |  Reply

Hi everyone

Before I start - Sorry if this is triggering.. feel free to delete if you think it is!!

I was wondering if anyone else here, even though underweight, has any stretchmarks? My BMI is quite low (17.2, not for much longer!!) but I have noticed I have a few and I know it sounds really vain but its like I AM working at putting on weight but then at the back of my mind I sometimes think I don't really want to coz wont they just get worse?  I thought people only got them if they were overweight/ lost a lot of weight really quickly (I didn't - have always been underweight)..

I wont lie - I do have a LOT of stretchmarks after gaining/losing weight during and after hospital admissions. However, after time they fade and are barely visible.. I still hate them though. I miss my 'young skin' and I'm only 18! At the end of the day though, don't let it put you off gaining to a healthy weight. You're going to be a hell of a lot more attractive at a healthy BMI with a few stretchmarks than you are looking like a bag of bones with smooth skin ;-)

Good luck,

xx

Thank you so much for the reassurance :)  and yes I think you're right about looking much better with a healthy BMI even with stretchmarks :P thanks again it's nice to know I'm not alone haha

I have stretch marks! But they are from 20 months ago when I used to weight 16 Stone 5 Pounds! I now weigh 7 Stone 10 Pounds :O ha. shocking.....

On the plus side....I managed my first 3000 day yesterday due to planning ahead, and boy its nice to eat a hell of a lot, although bloating is a big issue with my body not being used to it!

I have stretchmarks too! They are very visible on my thighs. I guess they are inevitable..?

I've got a couple too, yes. I use a product on them called Bio-Oil that has taken them down significantly. It's costy, but works. Still, they do go away anyway; I doubt these are anything like the severity of sort you'd get with, say, pregnancy, so they'll heal with time - and proper nutrition!

I'm so glad someone asked this. I found the replies useful :)

My biggest self-trigger are my stretchmarks. From the gain-to-lose time. But Lala is on the ball. BIO-OIL. IT WORKS WONDERS.

And so does a cream called Palmers Cocoa Butter for Stretchmarks. Massage it in after showers. **** the actual mark it makes the skin glow and honestly i have the same fear. I shouild be eating my words here.

Pun-Queen right here.

All the best x

I have it too...:) and I don't concern about it..:0 I know you could get rid of it by some kind of laser procedure, It'll cost a lot but if you really want it go for it...:) I don't know what is called but I saw it on TV one time..:)

I have them and hate them! Even the skinniest people have them though, so don't feel too bad. I know a lot of people that got them when they went through growth spirts, not weight gain but length.

Yes, stretchmarks are a part of life as a woman- whether or not one has an E.D. and is forced to gain quickly. Like the above poster mentioned, growth spurts and hormones/pueberty are huge causes; heck, i even know some guys with them. Do Not let them trigger you as they are Natural for Everyone. Some things to help? I totally agree with the cocoa butter. Also, I've used Vitamin E oil for a really nasty scar and some stretch marks- it is Amazing! I don't know if it's the same as 'bio-oil' but it sounds like a similar idea. I just picked it up at trader joe's or whole foods in the natural remedies/vitamins section.

Gain your life back!!
