string cheese?

Quote  |  Reply

I thought that string cheese was a good part of your diet. When I was reading up on south beach they recommended it for a snack and I have seen lot of people eat it on here. I just entered it and it is a D! I bought Sorrento reduced fat!

I eat it at lunch with a salad. Should I not?

Sorento series is my favorite - the other brands like Kraft taste rubbery to me. I think this site should do away with food grade. Anything is fine is moderation. Cheese will be a good protein compliment to your salad.

This site tends to rate most meats and cheeses and such pretty low, even if they're what I would consider pretty healthy.  (Also, does it have a lot of sodium in it?  I think the site weights that pretty heavily in the grade computations.)  I think you're fine eating it, especially if it's the only protein you're getting with your salad.

it is still mostly fat and sodium (good for you in moderation however), which is probably why it is rated a D

I think it is the amount of fat/sodum for the number of total grams in the food that is making it look so bad.

However, I use it to boost my fat % when I haven't had enough in a day, so that's what I WANT it to do.  As part of a balanced overall diet, it is good.

I just ignore the food ratings... there are SO many factors that vary & that can be misconstrued by a computer that I find it's not even worth my time to worry about the grades each food gets. I SORT OF consider my final grade for the day, but not even that much.

I eat the same kind, I have one almost everyday!

It one of the few low-cal, low-fat protein sources I like (granted, I'm a vegetarian). If you don't eat a lot of salty foods, there really is no reason to avoid string cheese. With the exception of CC, all I've ever heard about low fat string cheese is good.

LOVE IT!  Having one in the evening keeps me from getting let's say, a double-stuffed oreo.  Now there's a d or f for you.  When I log the string cheese w/ the rest of my food, it doesn't change the rating.

If you're going to pay attention to the grades on cc (I do, actually), then look at your overall grade rather than just items. If all you ate was string cheese then your diet would be too high in fat & sodium. Mixed in with lots of vegetables and fruits, you're dandy. Innocent
