>>>>> How Should I Strip Myself ??? **URGENT**
of FAT that is !!!!! ![]()
I've gained the notorious Freshmen 15 and now im working out with a personal trainer.
She has told me before we started that we were going to focus on fat burning exercises, other than just lifting weights like I used to do - along with cardio.
I have only worked out with her once so far && this is what we did:
- Instead of dealing with heavier weights (10 kgs, like i used to), she made me use really light ones (less than 5 kgs, i think) but more reps than 10-12. Like..... 15-20.
- After finishing 2 exercises, she made me run 300 meters on the treadmill immediately. I was running 11 kph (i think it was kilometers), which is like... almost 7 mph. I was really running lol!! But it lasted like... 3 mins.
This was one set.
After I finished running, she gave me 2 mins rest and then made me do 2 other exercises, then running again.
We did a total of 5 sets of these.
Was the purpose of this keeping my heart rate up??
My ultimate question is...
Do you think this is better for losing weight than just simply lifting REAL weights and cardio??
I mean, i understand that right now, my goal is to burn the FAT, not BUILD MUSCLE. But I don't want to lose too much of my muscles and look thinner but flabbier....
HELPPPPPP!!
Why are you working with (and, I'm assuming, paying) a personal trainer if a) you don't believe she is qualified enough to help you lose weight and b) if you aren't comfortable asking her questions about why you are doing what you're doing? Speak up! Ask her about her program! I'm sure she'd be more than happy to explain what's going on.
i've worked out with her years ago. it's not that i seriously doubt what she's doing, but i want to understand how this is going to affect my body. because i know that this WILL do good to my body, but i want things to be clear.
i wanted to hear what the CC-ers thought about this. and what would be the best way to lose weight.
and like i said, i haven't met up with her again, so that's why i couldn't ask her much questions. i didn't ask her questions when we first did it, because i just followed thru, u knw? hahaha
satisfied? lol
Light weights are pretty much useless as far as weight training goes, and the cardio part is pretty much useless, basically a useless routine LOL.........you would have burned some calories , but the epoc effect that you would normally get from either weights or HIIT is probably not going to happen from this routine. Stick to heavier weights and seperate your HIIT day if your going to do that as well. imo
(heavier weights are more than 10 kgs for most exercises)

- Ouch.... really? And what do you mean by "... separate HIIT day if your going to do that as well." ?? You mean separate my weight lifting and cardio days? I used to separate them, and used to lift heavy weights when I worked out by myself. That was earlier this month when I was back in Korea for univ. But now, I'm in Indonesia for my summer break (my family's here) and working out with a trainer - like I've mentioned.

- I know what you mean about eating healthy... I'm still battling my eating disorder, but I have been eating much better and healthier this summer break. Maybe because I'm with my family I feel better? ![]()
Oh, and I was very sore after my workout with the trainer. I think I even overworked my triceps too much, because if I flexed them for several seconds straight, they would lock and it would HURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRT!!!
Why did this happen?!! Is this a bad sign?
Weight training causes you to gain muscle which weighs more than fat, therefore doing weight training you are likely to increase your weight while decreasing your inches which doesn't like what you want.
Increasing your heart rate, increases your metabolism and burns fat without vastly increasing your muscle, it tones and therefore you lose inches and weight - which is what you sound like you want.
Therefore it sounds like your PT is pretty spot on with what she has you doing.

honestly, i don't really care about maintaining the same weight.
i want my body to look different u know?
and when u are talking about "increasing [my] muscles," it's pretty impossible for females to actually become bulky, so you're just talking about muscle endurance and strength, not size, am I correct?
Weight training only causes you to gain muscle if you're eating more calories than you're burning. If you're eating less calories than you're burning, weight training causes you to retain your existing muscle mass and raise your metabolism. This makes fat loss easier.
The routine your personal trainer had you doing sounds less effective than what you were doing before. I understand that she was trying to mimic circuit training, but lifting weights that are too light for you personally is basically useless. (How light that is varies from person to person and exercise to exercise. My mum now has my old set of "baby weights" because they're still challenging to her.)

Wow!! You made things much clearer to me!! Thank you THANK YOU!!
So weight training, but burning more than eating will not make me gain muscles ("bulky"), but would just help my body to retain my existing muscle mass... Aha..... but then I wonder how much muscle I actually have then.... ![]()
So even if I up my weights gradually, but still burn more than I eat, I would still have the same amount of muscles? No difference than when I used to lift lighter weights?
Hmmmm..... You make me regret paying her in advance..... dammit!!!
I've only done with her once - STILL!!
The weights would start to ache my body after like 12-15 reps. Too light?
