I have been stuck at 188 lbs for about 2 months. I seem to be losing motivation with my dieting. I do well for breakfast and lunch, and then dinner is hit or miss. I have not gained any weight so that is some good news, but I can't seem to break past 188 lbs. It seems that the closer I get to my goal weight of 165 lbs, the tougher it is for me to stick to the diet. I would think that since I weigh less now that I would not cheat as often as I do. I need to find a way to get the same motivation that I had in the beginning. I would appreciate any advice. Thanks.

I do not have much help to offer I just wanted to let you know you are not alone. I am in the same position. Dinner and night eating are also my worst times. I also seem to be losing motivation and cheat a lot more that I did at the biginning.
Sorry, I don't have advice to give either....however, I'm in the same boat, too. I was just about to post the same question. The sad thing is I've just began CC only a month ago. Tuesdays are my weigh-in but I'm still the same as last week, I haven't dropped anything. Very discouraging. And I thought I was doing so well this past week. If anything, I exercise more than I ever have and drink more than enough water. So, I'd be interested to read what others post about this dilemma we all seem to have. Just know that you're not alone. =0)
I broke the plateau with weight-lifting. It ups the metabolism by helping you build lean muscle as well as burning calories in the first place.
Also, my goal weight was originally around 165 as well. After a couple of months at my 2nd plateau of 175, I realized that 165 was probably unrealistic. The last time I was fit was when I was 20 yrs old and approx 160lbs. A lot of guys I know trying to lose wieght want to get back to that level of fitness, but guys can keep growing until they're 25 or so. I honestly shouldn't weight that little. I've stayed at around 175 for almost 6 months now, and my new goal is abs since the weight is holding steady. Final analysis, good luck and try some weight-lifting.

Hi - I'm kinda new
I was stuck for ages and then tried that idiot-proof diet - it works

try and think of what it means to you to be thinner, psychologically. Some people sabatoge themselves as they get closer to their goal because their fat was serving them in some way; they were using it to protect themselves from something.
Good luck!
Good luck!
I'm sure you've all heard this before...but changing up my schedule works best for me. i know night time is my danger zone for eating, so I try to do something that prevents me from eating --- take a long shower, chat online, pretty much anything to avoid watching tv. Talking on the phone helps too. I get to catch up with friends and I'm not likely to be crunching on chips while I'm on the phone.
I never got around to responding to your reply to my post (Stuck). Thanks. I took your advice and it worked. I got past the 188 lbs and I am now at 173 lbs (goal is 165 lbs.) I now envision myself at my goal weight whenever I feel like giving up or whenever I am stuck.
speed up your metabolism by :
-adding 2-3 snacks every day (try to have them at the same hour every day). Examples: small apple, bunch of nuts/peanuts, string cheese, low fat yogurt, 3 whole weat crackers+low fat ricotta, etc.
- so exercise. walking, aerobics, bycicle. anything that keeps you moving. start with 25 minutes and then gradually increas up to 1 hour of exercise. ( I spent at the time bewteen 1-1.5 hours)
- have dinner. Of course, something light like sladas and veggies, tuna, lean meats ( cghicken breast/ steak),. no potato, rice, bread, candy, etc.
-eat befor e your breakfast a small greapefruit. It is great.
- good luck. i'm aslo at a plateau.
