This is the all-new "Join me to lose the last 2-5 lbs club"!
This type of thread helped me famously as I was on my weight loss journey in 2007. Now I am back looking for more, support, friends and few pounds to lose ... I am still thin but feeling down in the dumps with poor eating and a lack of motivation.
Who wants to join me to lose the last 3-5lbs and stay healthy! Post goals, rants, diaries of your day if you like, we can lose those last few together!

I, too, had some scale depression today. I weighed myself at the gym--the scale is one of those ones with the sliders that they have at doctor's offices--and it was clocking me in at about 124 pounds! The scale I've been using at home, my housemate's Weight Watcher's scale, had me at 121.6--I hopped on in shock once I got home from the gym! And now I don't know which one to believe! :-( Which do you guys think is more accurate? I'm THINKING the WW scale (and that's just not hopeful wishing) since it's electronic, I use it on a hardwood floor, and it doesn't fluctuate when I step off, move it a foot, and step back on.
What do you guys think, honestly?
i hate those slidey scales. unfortunately they weighed me on a digital scale at the doctor's today, so i must really weigh 107.6, or at least 107 since i had my clothes and shoes on.
minerva_moon, do you have any weights at home? (like dumbells) i have some 4 lb ones that i used to check the accuracy of my home scale...i realized after weighing them that my home scale is wrong. if u dont have dumbells you can use an unopened bag of flour, or some other food item that comes in pounds.
warbler02, Please do not be angry or depressed! You are already so slim and have much to celebrat! I think since you are already at the minimum BMI your body probably doesn't really want to go any lower. What are you eating every day? It could be possible that you are just needing a little variety in your diet to get back to 106.
Also you could actually be at 106, and the variation you saw at the doctor's office could be because of the scale or water retention etc. There is no way to tell if the slidy scale or the digital one is more
accurate. There can be a lot of variability from machine to machine.

What are some of your stat's that Calorie Counter is saying you need to stick with? Mine say's that I burn 1620 a day without exercise and I should eat 1400 a day. I add my 300 to 400 burn, but then I usually eat around 15/1600 a day because I am so hungry! UGH! That's why I have been stuck at 130. Any suggestions beyond the obvious, stop eating as much and burn more?? : )
I know this sounds crazy but what if you ate 2000-2200 one or two times a week to give your metabolism a "jolt". You might be surprised to find you will actually lose a few pounds.
minerva_moon, I love your Nutella idea. I used to do that to give myself a treat when I was in my true weightloss zone and it really worked well as a nice reward for a healthful eating day. I will try doing that again. Nice auggestion!
I had an "ok" day, I have eaten healthy so-far but I am absolutely starving right now, which is generally a very bad place for me to be. I make terrible choices when I am so hungry. I had a bad weigh-in b/c I was starving last night when I got home last night and had chinese with an enormous amount of rice. So I was back up to 104.6 today. But I am ok with that. I find this group motivating so hopefully I will end up winning overall!

nah, i know my body goes lower. i used to weigh less than 107 (around 104) for a long time, until i quit smoking this year and also got sick (not weight related) and spent time in the hospital/at home just laying in bed. that was just a few months ago. i wasnt even counting calories or dieting when i weighed 104ish, i ate probably 1800 calories a day. so i just want to get back to that point, so much so that im getting depressed over how slow my progress is. oh well. my birthday is in less than 2 weeks as well as thanksgiving so maybe the extra calories that week will jumpstart my metabolism. thanks for the uplifting post ![]()
So I cracked on the candy front today...SIGH. I had such a terrible day and ended up eating four pieces. Luckily they're fun-sized. Ended up over maintenence for the day but only by, at most, 100 calories. So I guess tomorrow is a new day, right?
Tomorrow is definitely a new day, so we can all check in then. Minerva, just 100 cals over is great! Think of it actually like an accomplishment rather than a failure! At least given all the temptations you fought through! I would be psyched to be only 100 cals over every day!
I ended up having a horrible dinner of bits-and-bobs. I had a 125 calorie corn, tostitos with salsa and tons of cheese, left over turkey taco (ugh), a fruit ice pop and a Godiva chocolate truffle. Not the healthiest!!! But not tons of food either. At least I had four servings of fruit today, 3 clementine oranges and a cup of apple sauce (yum!).
Let's check in tomorrow ....... shall we do a pre-weekend weigh in?
NYCgirl--That dinner may not be the healthiest, but it sounds DELICIOUS! Mmmm, tostitos! And thank you for your kind words. :D I'm not too worried about being over calories, since, like you said, it's minimal. But per your suggestion, I'm thinking of it as a success because what I REALLY wanted was a get a pint of ice cream and drown my sorrows--then I would have been 500-600 over!
I could be up for a pre-weekend weigh in, although I'll have to use the yucky pooey gym scale! Unfortunately I don't have any weights at home to test my housemate's scale. The scale at the gym seemed to be pretty accurate--maybe measuring half a pound heavier when I put a couple of weights on it--but when I shifted my weight it would go all wonky. That's what I hate about the slidey-ones!
Good luck with the weekend everyone! I have an honor society induction on Saturday which means my parents are coming up to school...so that means lunch out, plus the cookies at the reception that I'll probably eat! :-P
Ugh, I weighed in this morning at 130 again! lol! I am going to start to zig zag calories and see what happens. I am such a creature of habit, that possible my body is craving something different. I'll let you know if it works.
Also, has anyone heard or or tried Acrai Berry? I saw Dr. Oz talk about it being the most benificial aid in wieght lose and health. Rachel Ray also had someone talking about it.

Oh lord , worst evening ever last night, ate so much movie theatre popcorn and malteaser candy that It would literally amount to 2 entire days of calories for me usually, not to mention a huge big bowl of cereal and albeit healthy super big dinner!! I never ever binge like that so It is freaking me out a little!! As such, too afraid to weigh in this morning, I know all that salty popcorn will affect the real damage I've done, but anyone any idea how long before the water retention fades and I can see the true lbs I put on during my little food fest!!
good morning! my day went pretty well yesterday... My weight is up this morning (136.8) but I think it has to do with grilled cheese and tomato soup for dinner (sodium) and I also did a killer weight-lifting workout. :) I used 25 lb dumbells for biceps, 15 lb dumbells for triceps and 30-40 lb dumbells for legs!!! I was so excited!!!! I already got on the elliptical this morning and have my turbo jam tonight so I hope for a good drop in the next few days.. I haven't done cardio since last friday... My sister and I have our weigh-in tomorrow.
My sister and I are also going to be making homemade whole wheat bread tomorrow! :D I'm excited about that...
ozzy- I agree with nycgirl.. I eat maintenance (usually accidentally) every once in a while and it really kicks your metabolism into gear :) and nope.. never tried acai berry stuff..
nycgirl - I'm pretty dangerous when I'm starving too.. One thing I did (worked for a day!) is I got these cute whole-wheat crackers and I put one serving in a tupperware and kept it in my cupboard.. then when I was starving I just grabbed that and had a snack! do you have a food scale? I just got one recently and I love it! It really helped me to pre-portion :)
warbler- it is hard (but possible) when you're so close to goal :) Just stay focused! You can do it!
minerva- definitely a new day! Yesterday was the first day all week I stayed away from the candy bowl...
I think it's the little things like that keeping me from losing these last few lbs... we can do it though!!!
carolally- it's okay :) I've finally kind of gotten my overeating issue under control.. kind of.. lol.. don't worry! what caused you to eat so much? emotions? if you recognize it now it's less likely to happen again in the future :) positive vibes girl! you can do it! When my weight goes up due to WR it only lasts a day or two.. maybe three.. just drink tons of water today to rid of that :)

krrpt08 : you are very sweet taking time replying to everyone individually, I really dont know what triggered it, I think I just got fed up with counting calories and trying to stay under that when I just went over I said F it, I'll go mad altogether and hope it boosts metabolism haha! Very bold!

im sure you only gained like a pound max, its pretty much impossible to eat more than a pounds worth of extra calories in one day. dont sweat it...remember to eat normally today!
So I weighed in at 121.8--however, this was wearing clothes and at noon, so although I hadn't had lunch yet, I had had breakfast a couple of hours ago, so I'm guessing I'm more like 121.5. And good news, I'm pretty sure my friend's scale is accurate! The best I could do was pressing a finger down on a mostly-full bag of flour (it wouldn't register otherwise) and getting 6.8lbs, and then, after not registering a few times, the almost-full bag of flour and a big canister of coffee (2lbs) came in at 7.1lbs.
Also my housemate said that the scale at the gym, in her opinion, sucks, and that it measured her as 200 lbs once. I DID test the one at the gym, too, and it seemed to only be over-estimating by half a pound, but maybe it was the way I was standing on it.
Either way, I think I'm going to go with my friend's WW scale, at least until I get home for Thanksgiving--then I guess I'll have to see what the Wii scale says! :-P ;-)

Ok, so the reason I didn't check back in last night is that I really really really did poorly. I went to sushi all-can-eat which was fine. But then I had a horrible political conversation at dinner with a friend and flew into a tail-spin. I ate a roll of mentos on the train then I went home and went out again to the grocery store and bought food, mostly junk food (but also a box of Product 19!). I also bought some meats and vegetables to disguise my reasons for grocery shopping. I came home and ate large portions of the junk food and cereals, even though I wasn't hungry. It was out of control, very ugly and the first time I have premeditated something like that to make myelf feel better. Eating purely on emotions ... so horrible!!! :( It has to end there.
And I still haven't weighed myself today, but will later. I was 104.4 yesterday but I am sure I am more today, it's ok though, as tomorrow I am going on a 1500 calorie/day average "perfect week" attempt to regain control of myself.
Minerva, congrats on the honor society, that's awesome! Let us know how it goes!
ozzyward, zig-zagging really worked for me when I was in my super weight-loss mode. It helps because I love food so much so can have some higher calorie days and my weight loss continued without a major plateau. Acai berries are gaining a lot of attention lately but I have my doubts. I think they are healthy but will it make a huge difference in your WL? I sorta doubt it, but I could be wrong.
carolally, I loooooooooove Malteasers. By far my favorite sweets (although I really like Minstrels too!). Good thing I don't live in Ireland/UK anymore otherwise I would be in major danger all the time! I don't freak about popcorn because even though it is horribly high in calories and fat, it has fiber so has some nutritional benefit, maybe?!
krrpt08, yummy, homemade bread!!! I don't have a scales but really need one, good suggestion, maybe I will buy one with my wedding present money :)

Went out to eat with my parents and actually am doing okay for the day! I already had decided it was going to be a 'free day', but it looks like it won't be too far above maintenence--I'm at 1270 right now and will probably only eat a small amount of dinner and then a snack at night, so I'll probably end up around 1800--much better than the 2300 I was guesstimating!
My parents and I went to PF Changs, and while their food is high in sodium, it's pretty low-cal! I ate a TON and still ended up not doing too bad--I had three lettuce wraps (so about half the appetizer...about 250 cals as the whole thing is 500 cals), then a cup of egg drop soup (only 50 cals), about half of my dinner (about 450 cals since the whole thing is about 890), and then, to treat myself because I resisted the cookies/cake at the reception after the ceremony, a shot-glass dessert (250) and a cup of coffee (20ish...just a little bit of cream, plus splenda). I was really excited when I looked up all the calorie counts after I got home!
I did really well yesterday. I ate about every two hours, but I ate very healthy and ended up at 1550 for the day, AND I went to the gym! So I'm feeling positive for the day. :-)

I'm female, 5'2" / 110 lbs and trying to get back to 105 after two years of cafeteria food at college!
I'm so close to my goal weight, just 5 lbs to go, but I've been on a plateau for a few weeks, partly due to constant cheating on my calorie counting! So my goal for this week is to really stick to my daily intake (1500) and I think I'm going to put a star on the calendar for each day that I do stick to my goal.
I definitely agree about zigzaging -- when I started losing weight, I would sometimes give myself a free day and always saw great results a couple of days after that high-intake day.

So today ended up being more like 2000 calories. Oh well! I'll be good until Friday--then we're having a Thanksgiving potluck...yummy!
