The 2-5 pounds to go and stuck thread ... Join me to lose the last few pounds!

Quote  |  Reply

This is the all-new "Join me to lose the last 2-5 lbs club"!

This type of thread helped me famously as I was on my weight loss journey in 2007. Now I am back looking for more, support, friends and few pounds to lose ... I am still thin but feeling down in the dumps with poor eating and a lack of motivation.

Who wants to join me to lose the last 3-5lbs and stay healthy! Post goals, rants, diaries of your day if you like, we can lose those last few together!

YES WE CAN!

Hi guys,

I'm pretty on track this week in terms of eating.. though I can never seem to get enough protein and fat.. grocery shopping in Korea can be hard sometimes!  I weighed in at 60 kg today, still .7 over what I should be.  It seems to be taking me longer than usual to work off that weekend sodium/weight. I haven't been running for the past 2 weeks though because it just started to get SO COLD out.  Last week excercising less had me losing more weight (I don't think I was getting enough calories).

nycgirl-maybe the mickeydee's caused you to bloat and that's the reason for the skinny jean problem!  Keep plugging!

alanah - oh man, what I would do for a home-made brownie right now!  I'd probably eat 16 if that makes you feel better!!

Yeah they were amazing. They were a death by chocolate recipe from foodnetwork.com. They were so good.

I have a chocolate abuse problem and so I need some control (doesn't help that Thanksgiving is coming up and I am making 4 desserts -- I love baking!)

It's getting cold here too and the other day I tried to go jogging but it just hurt my lungs. Also I think I'm getting shin splints. Usually I can get on the treadmill and jog for 20 minutes straight and yesterday after 5 minutes my shins started hurting so badly.

Sigh. I need to recommit to working out.

Went over my projected calories again today, but only by about 120 or so. Still had a deficit of about 100 calories. Guess I'll have to take what I can get!

I should go to the gym tomorrow/Friday, but it's so hard to get the motivation. My mom got a membership to Planet Fitness that lets her bring a guest anytime she goes, so at least over winter break I can go with her when she goes (although my mom doesn't have the best track record with gyms! Guess that's where I get it from!).

I feel like it's because we're so close to goal that we suffer from lack of motivation. I mean, really, you can't see three pounds in the mirror. You can CLAIM you do, but you really can't. It's just the difference between feeling a little 'jiggly' and feeling nice and fit. It's just the difference between those jeans fitting nicely and fitting a little snugly. And we DO feel better when we're lighter, but when we're so close to goal, it's hard to really remember the big deal about those three-four pounds.

Running in the cold is hard for me too. My ears just hurt so much, and they keep hurting for 20 minutes after I come back inside. Luckily I don't have shin problems so I can use the elliptical inside...not that I ever really do that either...Tongue out

Some days I feel that way, but most days I actually find myself obsessing over the last few pounds a lot more. I guess it's because I've already lost 10 lbs, and I expected myself to look a lot better after losing it...but I still see fat in all the same places. I do think I've reevaluated my goals, though. I no longer just want to lose weight...seeing the pudge just stay there regardless of weight loss has motivated me to work out rather than set a lower weight loss goal and hope the pudge magically disappears when I hit that number on the scale...I know better now. It won't.

Is it too late to join?

I'm 19, 5"6', 118lbs after two months of french toast and pancakes (I recently moved to Canada where the breakfasts are HEAVENLY) and I'd ideally like to get back down to 112 but would settle for 115. I'm aware that both weights would mean me being underweight but I'm just not comfortable at my current weight ... I know its weird.

I'm terrible at sticking to a calorie limit so i'm trying to get there by working out instead. I currently average about 1500-1800 calories a day and exercise for 2 hours, 3-5 days a week. But apparently it's not enough cuz I've gained, so I'm going to have to cut back on the calories a little. I'm not giving up the pancakes for anyone, though. Tongue out

hannah, you're more than welcome to join, of course, but (and I'm just beating nycgirl to the punch here), CC advocates HEALTHY weight loss--which means staying within a healthy BMI range. You're probably losing weight because you're underweight, which is a health risk.

I understand not feeling comfortable with your body, but maybe you should work on increasing your lean body mass/decreasing fat rather than losing pounds? :-) Good luck!

oh my.... i have eaten my body weight in food this evening. I was planning on going to the gym after work and then ended up getting picked up from work and going out for dinner. It was a 3 course set menu... not pretty. worst part-- the meal was not even that delicious. It is difficult sometimes because food is more of a social thing than a necessity thing... Does anyone else find that?

BUT whats done is done right. So tomorrow is a new day... and i need to stop reading about these brownies..... yummm.

I see your point ...I would actually be happy to stay at my current weight if I could swap flab for muscle mass and just be a nicer shape ... after all it's only very rarely that people take pictures of me when I'm on the scales.

Can I still join the group even if I'm only planning to drop pounds of fat instead of general body-weight pounds?

Yeah it is tough to diet when you're socialising... every time I go out for a meal with my boyfriend and try to explain I'm dieting he just says "shut up" and buys me pizza ... damn him LOL. But I like your "tomorrow is a new day" attitude. And maybe the big meal will give your metabolism a boost for the rest of the week. :-)

good morning! weight is steady at 136.2... no 135. anything :( but I think it's b/c I had a large, DELICIOUS, chili from Wendy's yesterday.. granted there's only 300 cals.. but lots, and lots of sodium as any fast-food chili would have... but so yummy :) especially in 30* weather... so.. today I'm banking on another high-sodium day (pretzels for lunch with my pb&j, turkey meatloaf for dinner) but I'm going to chug water and hope for the best :) Planning some serious weight lifting tonight along with 30 minutes of light jogging on my elliptical.. nothing crazy there. No HIIT tonight b/c when I do my HIIT routine I want to make sure it's the only exercise I do so I can focus all my energy towards that..

nycgirl - I agree with the bloat comment.. I think you'll be sliding right back into those skinny jeans in a day or so :) I can't even tell you the last time I had mcdonald's.. maybe 2 years ago? but the strangest thing is, yesterday I heard a commercial for their nuggets and started craving them! lol!

Ashley- nice job with the weight :) good luck reaching 120 by the 5th! if you just focus and keep that determination strong, you'll see it!

alanah- brownies! yum! when I bake I try to send half with other people.. I made chocolate chip cookies over the weekend but I made them pretty big and had people over.. no leftover cookies! :D

hannah - starting lifting! lift heavy! it sounds daunting but that is the best way to get rid of fat.. especially since you are at a low weight. and stay away from the scale. I'd say lift for 6 weeks (maybe 3x a week) AND STAY AWAY FROM THE SCALE and I bet you'll see a huge difference in your body composition :)

vnaloo - new day is right :) social eating is never good.. what a bummer that it wasn't even good food...

all these comments about not making it to the gym or outside running make me love my "home-gym" even more :) especially in my tiny apartment! I have a weight bench and dumbells and an elliptical.. and they are in my living room.. so exercise is always just staring me in the face.. lol... then, once in a blue moon I'll go for a jog.. I, personally, hate the gym.. too much work having to change and lock things up and get in front of people.. just not my scene I guess...

that's all from me! keep on keepin on ladies!! we'll reach our goals!

Sorry, have gone AWOL this week, very busy with work and class stuff!! Cannot wait for the weekend, I'm going home to my Moms lovely cooking so that will kill my losing streak, not that im on one really. But I try to factor in eating more at home by eating less all week!!So hopefully i'll be okay.

minerva_moon : Dublin city uni is a little outside the city but Im sure you'll be in around the centre a lot, I would reccomend The Farm on Dawson for organic, healthy foods both meat and veggies, soups everything really just really fresh produce. Cornucopia which is at end of grafton street, its a vegetarian place but lovely stuff, also Govindas which have a few branches around the city are gorgeous for lunches out, im sure you'll find your feet quick enough, and menupages.ie is a great site which gives you a lot of the menus you can expect, its kind of annoying here as theyre are very few restaurants that offer the nut. info as i gather they do in US, so you have to wing it a bit, but its not a problem if you dont eat out like everyday. Good health stores for things like vitamins, protein shakes, supplements etc. are hollands and barretts on grafton st. and the health matters also on grafton st, thats all my wisdom on how to stay on track in Dublin anyway :)

NycGirl: Im actually from Galway, live and work in Dublin South side, so southsider I guess. I take it from your name your now in NY amazing Ill get there someday soon I hope!!

Today was a little better... but again after having a great day i ran into trouble at dinner! Thinking of planning all of my dinner meals for the week next week to make sure this problem gets under control!

Good news is I will be able to workout a lot this weekend and i am planning a long run as long as it doesn't rain here. Although... as you were all saying running in the cold is not ideal. Sometimes i think i like it better than running in the hot, humid summer though. As long as i'm bundled up.

krrpt08- the home gym sounds amazing! I hate how humid my gym can get sometimes!

hannahboots- yea the boyfriend does not help at all-- Oh to have his metabolism! thankfully mine does like healthy food too so can i coax him into sharing meals with me.

firebrand- i am with you on getting enough protein... also i can imagine that grocery shopping is probably a whole different experience! I am going away for the Christmas holidays to South America and i am expecting many hurdles...

Also on protein--  i have also found it hard to keep my protein levels high. I have been considering a protein powder and having a protein shake in the morning. thoughs? feelings?

best of luck tomorrow and over the weekend!!

Are you sure maybe you didn't step on it wrong? I weighed myself on the WW scale a few days ago and it said 127--I had a "whoa!" moment, jumped off, reset it, and got back on to have it read 121.8...which was much more what I had been expecting!

Anyway, last night I went to Applebee's so ended up at maintenence calories, and tonight is our house's Thanksgiving potluck with our friends so I'm sure to go way over today! :-P What a wash for this week!

haha nope didnt step on it wrong, reset a few times, and weighed a weight on it just to make sure it hadnt broken on me, I had a lot of water to drink that day, but just goes to show weights and scales are mad!

I hate running in the cold, too. Well, mostly it's just hard to motivate myself. It hasn't been too much of a problem at school, where I can almost always get to the gym, but when I'm home for Thanksgiving and Christmas breaks, I'm not sure what I'll do. Anyone want to get together and support each other in braving the cold? Maybe if we work on running outside once or twice this week and motivate each other it will help!

Otherwise, things are going pretty well. What are everyone's thoughts on Thanksgiving? Since I'm so close to where I want to be, I'm tempted to make it a free day, but I also don't want to go crazy. Maybe I'll plan ahead for the portions I want to eat and try to stick to that, instead of counting calories? And ideas or your own plans would be great!

Thanksgiving is but once a year (although I'm celebrating twice!) so I definitely plan on making it a free day. Tonight I'll celebrate with my housemates, eat well and create a deficit until Thanksgiving, and then enjoy myself on that day. :-)

well i succumbed to temptation last night and went out for beers and bar food with friends!  i didn't do too badly, only had one beer (and a few soju shots!) but did have a piece of fried chicken and some salad that was oozing with salad dressing (gross!).  i didn't even enjoy it that much.  i also didn't even get down to the weight i was last week.  so i was still 59.8 kg.  i don't even want to get on the scale today.  AND a friend is visiting korea from canada so you know what that means!  i'm trying to not stress and am telling myself i can start over again on sunday.  maybe this will give my metabolism a little kick?

all you americans.. YUM! thanksgiving.  we don't really have that here, and i'm canadian so our thanksgiving was awhile ago.  enjoy your pies!

i hate running in the cold too.  i heard that you burn more calories doing it, though.  since it got colder i have stopped running and have only been doing 30 day shred.  maybe i'll start up again on sunday.

elen0sila.. starting sunday i'll try to go running if you do, too!
