Studying or Elton John?!?!

Quote  |  Reply

My neighbor just offered to take me to an Elton John concert tonight. Chance of a lifetime, right??? BUT, I was planning on studying for a SUPER important test I have to take on Saturday morning that I am not at all ready for that will affect my grad school admissions. Plus, I have to get up at 6 to work in the morning.

HAAAALP! What should I do, oh wise ones???

I hate to say it, but you know what you should do.

Sigh, I know. Given, I already did well enough on the GRE general test, and this is just a subject test, so really all I have to do is not bomb it...but still.

Go to the concert and have fun. Then call in sick and spend that time studying.

Concert!  Why is this even a question?  Go now!  Hurry!

Elton John. Duh.

I think I'd go with the concert mostly because you never know when you'd get a chance like that again, but also because I'm quite a procrastinator. xD

What did you end up deciding to do?

Elton John is the shiz.  I originally thought this topic was a "This or That" game because the title was so notoriously random.

Elton's biggest fan here and I want to hear about the concert!  Went broke on tickets to see his Vegas show twice this summer and still paying for it but would do it all over again.  Free?  Wow - hope you went!

I hope you went too. A day won't make a difference for the GRE. I took it a couple different times (scores expire after 5 years and I had a break between my masters and phd). First time I did not prepare at all. Second time I prepared a lot. Essentially the same score.

PLEASE tell us you went!  And how was the concert anyway?  Elton John is phenomenal.

When faced with a choice like this, I always remember a line from Of Mice and Men  which I can't quote, but which I will paraphrase.  The guy was talking about how a few years back, he'd spent an entire week's salary on a hooker and said something like, "I've worked a lot of weeks in my life, and I don't remember any of them.  I remember that one."  Life is too short--enjoy it while you can.

BTW, what are you doing on CC the day after a concert?  You should be studying!  Smile

So here's what happened.

My friend texts me at 5:30 asking me if I want to go. I don't get the text til 7 (because my phone was apparently on vibrate), when I reply to get some more info and post on here, freaking out. He texts me back like 30 min later saying he thought I didn't want to go so he gave the ticket away. I cry myself to sleep.

AHHH chance of a lifetime, foiled by the stupid vibrate setting!

Just kidding about the crying myself to sleep part.

"Hi this is Emily's phone, Emily won't be getting your message about the Elton John concert..."
