Weight Loss

I often read the dilema people have on here about having an extra portion or treat etc..., so in an attempt to offer help/ support in a strange way I type the following...
From sep 4th to Nov 30 I went from 216 lbs to 205 lbs.
From Nov to Jan 3rd I ended up gaining weight. This I have learned was purely from a deficit over 1000 for 10 years messing with my metabolism. This is now back in place and probably cost me an increase of 10lbs over the years and prevented me losing realistically for 6 weeks, but sorted.
I have now lost a further 2 lbs from jan 3rd to jan 18th, and in light of having lost extra weight and seemingly having my metabolism under control...
I have already had a decent breakfast and dinner and soon I am going to spoil myself rotten with a HUGE take-out (probably chinese with fried rice), and wash down with a few beers. I will expend 2700 cals today and most likely will consume around 3500.
Going over by 800 for the day? So what!!!! That equates to around 0.25lb increase being pedantic, but hey.... For a treat and how much I am going to enjoy tonight I do not care one little bit. Basically it means I will take 2 days longer to reach my goal weight, but week on week I will be losing. Looking at the big picture :)
As long as it doesn't become a daily habit ;)

roj, you are... just brilliant!
Enjoy!
Enjoy!
My favourite food is watermelon, and honeydew. Yesterday I stuffed myself with both after having my 300 calorie dinner.
When I went to log it...... I found out that it's like 60 calories a CUP. I ate like 3 cups worth and only had 180 calories. I guess since I like it so much and is a treat for me, I assumed it was bad. I love that I don't have to suffer because I endulged, but lucky for me I really like fruit!
Anyway, good on you, have your fun night...... just remember to eat the veggies that are in or beside the food you eat ;)

I'll agree with nomo. This is a BRILLIANT post, in light of some of the usual posts we see.
Know what? I had four pieces of chocolate this morning and I feel good. It was good chocolate :D

I've been known to eat 2 or 3 servings of oreos and still not go over 1800 calories. :-)
We need smilies here btw.

I ate a bunch of frozen pizza last night and loved every bite of it. I worked out for half an hour, 1 hour after I ate and then I went for an extra half an hour this morning. Do I expect to lose this week yet, heck yes. Like you say, an extra 800 calories is 2 days worth of a deficit or even just 1-1.5 hours of a typical workout!!!
I think this calorie counting is really opening my eyes to a new lifestyle. Its all a matter of give and take. If I take in too many calories today, so what (I'll enjoy them!!!!), then give a little more effort in my workout tomorrow.
Like roj said, if it takes an extra 2 days (or an extra hour of working out) in the long run does it really matter as long as your getting closer to your goal?
This is truly BRILLIANT!!!!!!!! A "diet"(or lifestyle if you prefer) that ACTUALLY means you CAN eat anything you want and ENJOY IT, just be accountable for it...

Great post roj! Everyone needs to treat themselves once and a while. As long as you are able to bring yourself back down to earth the next day (or few days hehe) and get back on track, its all good.
This shows that you are commited to this type of lifestyle change, and its not just a diet to lose 40 lbs in 4 weeks.
I could never see myself living with strict conditions like that for life. Life without chocolate and pizza? Hell no. Just keep it moderated.
Again, thanks for the post roj. Hopefully the many newly obsessed people will read this and "get it".

bigtwinky, it's not so bad to be newly obsessed, especially if they (like me) have just made the switch from eating constant crap. there is nothing wrong with being obsessed with your health (unless it's taken to the ED extreme, of course).
but yes, i like this post and the meaning behind it as well.

I had Banana Creme Cake with Dark & White Chocolate Chunks for breakfast yesterday. Today I weighed myself and I lost 2.5 lbs. :)
Nice post :)
I find if I withhold food that I really, really want, it does me no good whatsoever. If I just eat it (a little, a lot, whatever) then I'm over it and can move on. Case in point: If I refuse myself that yummy, melty Lindor Truffle I will obsess over it, mourn it, and not feel satisfied until I eat it.
So I'm with you: eat up! Food is not thine enemy.
Someone here said it best but I'll sum up my new (borrowed) philosphy. That Lindor truffle is so much yummier when I can eat it in moderation. Then it has no emotional associations - it is just a yummy food, not an evil, fattening, ball of guilt!

He he he, I had three lovely chunks of milk chocolate yesterday and then had a fantastic workout at the Y...was it worth it? Oh baby, yeah!!!!
You know, jogging in place burns nearly 500 Kcal/hour. We can just jog in front of the candy until we burn it off ;)
Or better yet, hang it on a string in front of me and maybe I'll give real running a try again :) I'm sick of stick and ready for some (proverbial) carrot.

I'm going to take my bf to dinner for his bday sat...and no matter where we go...i will enjoy it...eatting 2500 calories in one meal or not! :D
Good for you roj. Thats what makes it a LIFEstyle and not a diet, thats called control. Enjoy!!!
we have to remember to spoil ourselves here and there and not loose sight of living normally. if we restrict ourselves too much it could be distructive, dont you think? i mean, after we reach out goal weight, then what...right!
This post is great news for me. I am on my second week of changing my lifestyle and after losing 6 lbs I thought I had cheated by going to Wendy's and Pizza Hut on consecutive nights (well my wife's idea actually and....well....I didn't say no.) Anyway, I thought I really messed up but I now know, because of the way you put it (and it really makes sense) that I am ok now and I just need to work a little bit more on my next workout.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.
I guess I never really thought about it that way. For me, this is a short-term weight loss venture. When I hit target weight, I can go back to my old habits. I was maintaining at the weight I had reached in my last diet/exercise cycle without effort, just being me. But, I felt like taking the next step down. I forget that sometimes, that when I'm done, I get to eat chocolate again! Thanks for reminding me as I am definitely guilty of being obsessed. ;)
roj, you have fun! Enjoy every bite because you know exactly what you're doing.
I'm eating a big portugese chicken burger with mayo and chilli sauce for dinner! I CAN'T FRICKEN WAIT! Woo hoo. But because I ate so healthy this morning and at lunch i will have still only consumed 1,000 calories... so I don't even need to up my workout... :)
|'m doing the exact same thing tomorrow! | was going to go out to lunch tomorrow with someone, and | know that the calorie level in the food |'ll be eating will be 2,000 + in one meal most likely. So |'ve water fasted today, so | wouldn't worry about my intake tomorrow. It's awesome really, not worrying about it.
^.^
^.^
Well then I guess Max N' Erma's Banana Pudding pie dessert (HEAVENLY) is in the cards for me this weekend (and an extra hour workout) LOL
