stumbled across an easy side dish (orzo)!

had a pack of orzo in the house so decided to experiment. I took about 2 tablespoons of butter put it in a skillet and heated it until it melted. then i added a pack of orzo and put it in the skillet, and let it toast for a little until some got browned in color. then i added about 2 cups of chicken stock and until it boiled and then i reduced it low. i added diced cherry tomatoes, chopped basil, black pepper, a few red pepper flakes. i let it simmer until some stock evaporated and then i added a bit more stock. when the rest of the stock evaporated and the orzo became softer i added more black pepper and some parmesean cheese. after a couple minutes i put the orzo in a bowl and garnished with basil leaves on top. My fiancee could not get enough of this dish! it was very tasty and easy to do. just thought i would share!

that sounds delicious! Thanks for the idea!

Gosh... I've never tried orzo and for some reason, I thought orzo was the same thing as ouzo. Embarassed After looking up what orzo is, I definitely want to try your recipe. Thanks for sharing!!

Here's a fancy recipe I make during the winter holidays

Wild Rice Pilaf Salad

The orzo stretches the expensive wild rice and adds a nice texture and it's pretty too.
