Let say - you were stupid enough to eat a whole pizza
You're home alone............ and ordered a pizza.........thin crust........... and ate the WHOLE THING.
What would you do?
Cause I'm real close to crying.
there is nothing you can do about it now, don't let it get you down. pizza is too delicious to make anyone cry :)
Breathe.
Get back on the track right now.
Its just one mistake.
If you are the working out type. Go workout.
Smile. Enjoy the weekend!!
Don't cry. I've done this before many a time and felt bad afterwards, just like you, so don't cry. Trust me when I say, you are not alone in this. And believe me when I say, it's not as bad as it feels it is right now. It wasn't "stupid", just "human".
Instead of crying, what you need to do is realize that you "slipped off the wagon", so to speak, accept the responsibility for it, then move on and say "I'll try not to do that again". Use this moment as a learning experience, and make it empowering for yourself. Write, talk about it. Why did you do this? What was going on around you? Were you stressed? Just really hungry? After you get to sequence of events that made you do this, you'll be in a better position next time to avoid doing this. You didn't fail, you just made a mistake. That's all. I really hope this helps. You're talking to someone who was a master of binge eating. I mean I would get pizzas that had the stuffed filled cheesy crust, and all the extra meat you could imagine. It took me a WHILE to learn not to do that anymore. It's a day by day thing. Today wasn't your day. Ok. So tomorrow will be. Use this as a chance to learn more about yourself. There's nothing wrong with you, you just have to learn yourself and what your "triggers" are. After that, you'll have this in the bag.
Been there -- did that -- threw in cinnamon sticks (without frosting) to boot. Actually did it three times on my way to a 55+ lb loss.
You just cross it off your days and get right back up. It's done, you can't undo it. eat normally (for you) for the rest of the week, drink lots of water (try to flush some of that extra sodium), and just remember how it felt (so you don't do it again, and again, and again).
and try to figure out WHY you did it, and don't put yourself in that position again if possible.
Agree with the posters above.
Also, I'd probably go for a bike ride 'cause it'd burn a bunch of the calories and make me feel better about the whole thing. (Substitute roller blading, dog walking or your favourite form of fun exercise. This is *not* a punishment; it's a "make you feel better" activity.)
I would adjust the rest of your weeks calorie intake...or I guess that's what I would do. If I ate 1000 extra calories one day then I would just remove 200 from the next 5 days.
I agree with those above who say write about it and figure out why you did it.
If you're me, you'll have some seriously bad stomach pains for the rest of the day that make you want to cry due to the cheese overload. This alone was enough to stop me from every eating that much pizza again!
And next time, immediately take at least half and put it in the fridge. Cold pizza just isn't as good as hot pizza after you've just eaten hot pizza. (To me.) At least you won't have the whole thing staring you in the face tempting you with it's awful deliciousness.
We are all tempted by pizza. *hugs* You'll be okay.
Clearly, I would cut off my left hand to show my dedication to weight loss.
OH NO! I ate a whole pizza last weekend! What the hell is this thing I'm typing with?
And I can trump you, in that [not this last time] but I've ate a whole deep dish by my lonesome. You think you feel bad now, think about how bad that would feel.
So fall down seven, get up eight. Your back on the wagon as of right now. That's all that matters. Don't get guilty, don't scourge, just put your mind back in the diet. Yes, the consequences will suck, but you can make them better by not making the situation in general worse.
Just because you ate a whole pizza doesn't mean you are going to fail!! You are going to suceed and you will get to goal weight, even if it takes you a week longer than you planned.
You can do it!
I would say that you should realize that you are human and for whatever reason that pizza was needed at that moment .... but don't punish yourself for having it ... my goodness there are so many worse things to have done than that .... so what, you had some extra calories today - go easy on yourself about it and then get back on track. We've all done it ... losing weight is a journey and sometimes that journey involves going in reverse for a while.
At least you didn't do it in ignorance. The days of eating a whole pizza and not knowing how bad for you it was are over. Next time, if you can't put it away, give it away! It's a great way to meet neighbors or friends.
Last night I made baked ziti for dinner. My recipe makes two 2 qt dishes and I KNEW I wouldn't be able to stay away from leftovers in the fridge. I gave a whole dish to my neighbor. I'm soooo glad that is GONE!
You are not the only person who has ever done that. Don't be too hard on yourself!!
Well, it was just 1/2 a pizza for me today
but I was angry about something at work, and darn it, I love pizza, so for the rest of the day, I'm just eating fruits and veggies...whatever good stuff I can, and maybe working out. I'll just try to do better tomorrow, don't beat yourself up and move on.
i would just be glad it wasn't two whole pizzas and move on. because i, like many others here, have done that.
If it makes you feel any better, I believe there are about 1,400 calories in a pizza. Now before you get too startled, just remember that it takes 3,500 calories to gain one pound. So if you ate at your maintenance level the whole day and THEN ate a pizza, you wouldn't even gain half a pound. :) Of course, you'll feel horrid, but that will just be a not-so-lovely reminder to not do it again.
Edited to add: Someone please message me if that was totally the wrong thing to say...I think my comment could be either really helpful or really destructive. =/ It always makes me feel better, but I'd appreciate it if you'd let me know if it's bad.
Ok. So, you were momentarily thrown off course by a beautiful pizza. It's not the end of the world. Go out and walk / jog for two hours, and you will have worked off 500 to 700 calories of it. Exercise it away if you can.
If you are a fan of Zig & Zag in your calorie intake, just reduce your calories a bit to offset it over the next two or three days.
Tomorrow is a new day!
hey! it's ok! i did that once last week, and once the week before. not to mention, after i did it last week, i went out, bought a pint of ben and jerry's, and ate THAT whole damn thing, too. hahaha! and i didn't even exercise at all last week, OR the week before. which, i figured out, is the reason why i ate two pizzas in two weeks. when i don't exercise, i fall ALLLLL the way off the wagon.
i'm an emotional eater. i pig out secretly by myself and don't even think when i do it. just remember how good you feel when you DON'T do that to yourself. get empowered, you can do it. jump back on because EVERY DAY IS A NEW DAY. these things happen!
forgive yourself, it's ok! it's just one day!
I just ate 1/2 a thick crust pizza myself on Tuesday. I have been craving pizza for a while now. I didn't lose anything this week because of it. I think we all have slip ups so don't worry about it and start fresh the next day.
Best thing you can do is learn from it and use strategies for the next time you decide to eat pizza. I know for next time not to order a whole pizza but go to a place that sells individual servings for instance or have a slice or 2 and give the rest away. I gave what I had left to a friend so it was out of reach and out of site.
Well just call it a day, and you have a new day tomorrow:) Also maybe address why you think you ate the entire pizza (emotional reasons, boredom, etc.), so you can think of better ways to deal next time. Everyone has done something like this before, or else most likely we wouldn't be trying to lose weight lol. Don't worry about it, just do better tomorrow!
I once had a whole Papa Johns pizza, chicken wings, wedges and dip and half a tub of ice cream before realising what a massive mistake I'd made. Just do better tomorrow :3 And don't weigh yourself til next week - all the salt will bloat you and if you weigh now you'll think you;ve put a ton of weight on - you haven't :)
1.) don't cry
2.) forgive yourself, don't feel guilty
3.) drink lots of water
4.) go for a walk or bike ride or something for an hour, which will put a big dent into the calories you overconsumed
5.) fix yourself a pot of green tea afterwards, have a grapefruit or other low cal snack and be careful of with calorie consumption for the rest of the day.
6.) don't weigh yourself tomorrow (the extra sodium = weight gain, which will make you feel terrible)
7.) eat healthy tomorrow
8.) day after tomorrow it will just be a memory.
When I eat something out of the norm, I usually plan my whole menu and activity accordingly in order to mitigate the excess calories. It's not the end of the world. So you reach your goal weight a few days later ... main thing is the big picture: gradual weight loss over a long term thru healthy eating and exercise habits.
Good luck ... and don't feel bad about yourself!

So you can log your weight -- which allows you to do the following:
- Plot your weight curve
- Analyze the trend of your weight (see under Recent in the figure above)
- Determine the projected target date (see under Overall in the figure above)
