Stupid irrational fear foods

Quote  |  Reply

Recently I've been really frustrated because despite having come a long way in recovery, I just CANNOT seem to overcome certain food phobias. There are a few very specific foods which I am terrfied of- all completely irrational because I will happily eat the same amount of calories/sugar/fat/carbs in another guise.

So I was wondering, does anyone else have these lingering ED 'blocks', what are they, and how did you get over them?

Mine are: olive oil, cake, pizza, fruit juice/smoothies, milkshake, baguette/french bread, pastry

Hot chips - conquered

White bread - conquered

Nuts - conquered (I have NO bloody idea how I lived without these beautiful, beautiful things)

Ice cream - Halfway conquered

Chocolate in block form (large servings) or in bags (as in M&M's) - conquered

Pasta - Halfway conquered

LIQUID CALORIES - So ready to conquer

My advice would be to start small. Have a small piece of something you like, or have it once a week maybe. When you see that it won't harm you and that hey, maybe you even LIKE it, you can start having it more often. =)
