I feel GROSS, I feel like a look GROSS yet I just grovel and don't DO ANYTHING.

I need to lose this lingering 10 pounds but I CANNOT GET MOTIVATED.

I have put them on over the past 3 months - I NEED THEM TO GO AWAY.

I'm self-loathing and depressed and don't know what to do.

First off: you look great in your picture!

Now: Stop the self-loathing and use that energy to do something about the way you feel. Now! Go take a walk and make this the moment you change everything.

Sorry if that sounded way too harsh, but it's the same talk I had to give myself a month and a half ago!

You start.

Simple and effective :) just start.

Some days it feels like I can and then others it doesn't. Today feels like a good day - we'll see... going to try to get to the gym at lunch even though I'm having a phenomenal hair day...

Tackle the self-loathing first.... We don't do anything nice for people we loathe.  We do nice things for people we love.

Next step.... start small, be consistent and be kind to yourself.  Don't think in terms of punishing exercise regimes and crippling diets of boring food and rigid rules.  Who in their right mind would want to do that?   Think in terms of small improvements to your diet, good food you enjoy, activities you have fun with.  If you go gently and aim to have a good time along the way, it's a lot easier to get started.   A better diet and more activity will lift your mood.   Plus it's a lot less likely that you'll put it back on again if you find a healthy lifestyle you're happy to stay with long-term.

Best of luck

Hating yourself really will just make things harder. Calm down and stop being ridiculous.

reaching out to us is a good first step - or at least a good step when you are to despondent to do anything else.

No doubt you know what you should be doing (eat less / exercise more...) but if you are in a funk all you want to do is wallow in it and maybe even make it worse with some ice cream (but you did say you want to change)

My advice is kind of twisted, but I have been in your shoes before. Do something ELSE that you should not be doing. It just should not be anything food related. And if it includes exercise, all the better.

Go out and buy something you don't need, or play hooky from work or homework. walk to the store and buy a lottery ticket.

Just don't make it about food - and try to walk there... Tomorrow is another day, and if you can go one day without feeling bad, without feeling you are digging the hole deeper, it will be easier to exercise and make smart choices about what you eat.

Good luck.

I understand the self-loathing. Definitely comes and goes for me. Even just in a day, I can go from feeling good to feeling like s*#!. It's not as easy as "just getting over it". Wish it were.

I think you look amazing, and you should believe me when I tell you you have a great body :) Hope that helps some...
