Substitution for Water????

Quote  |  Reply

Just wondering....can you substitute green tea for water? I drink maybe about 4 glasses of actual water a day and drink as much green tea as possible.  I know the main component of green tea is water, but I like the taste of green tea so much, I would rather drink 8 glasses of green tea rather than 8 glasses of pure water. There's nothing wrong with that right?

Similar to the above question, how do you guys feel about Crystal Lite powders? A no-go?

Several studies have shown that all liquids aid in hydration and additionally, green tea has shown itself to be very good for you. I think as long as you aren't adding sweetners and things to it you should be fine subbing in tea. I think that drinking enough liquid period is what is important.
yep, like carolcabbage says, it all adds to hydration. but make sure you know how many calories in it, some green tea is kinda high, oddly..

are you drinking actual green tea? or that junk from lipton or some other company? If you are drinking actual green tea you will need to consume more water because tea is a diuretic and will cause you to lose more water. If you are drinking the Lipton iced green tea then you don't have to worry about that because it's almost completely fake.
I'm drinking actual green tea...genmaicha actually (Japanese green tea).  And yeah I agree, it makes me pee constantly!! But wouldn't water do the same? I had no idea that green tea has high calories...the kind I drink, I know for sure has 0 cals so no worries! I'm enjoying a cup right now ...Thanks guys!

I drink iced tea by Good Earth. I make it fresh with an iced tea maker by Mr. Coffee I got at Wal Mart for under 20 bucks. It is very good, and I sweeten it some with Sweet n low. I read on the web that sweet n low is not absorbed in your body, so it is safe. They have tested it for over 20 years. My dietitian said tea is fine.
i like green tea too but those crystal lite "tea to go" have aspartame in them and are not good for you to drink much of.  green tea also gives me energy and that is always good to keep me going and busy instead of sitting in front of the puter and tv all the time. :O)
And the occasional diet soda won't kill you =]
