How much weight can I actually subtract from what it says on the scale? I have been figuring about 2 pounds total for clothes, water weight, and other factors.

If there is any way I could get away with subtracting more it would be kind of awesome, but I doubt that my clothes weigh 4 lbs (which i sincerely wish they did).

So, what do you guys usually end up taking away? Just curious :I

weigh yourself naked, stay hydrated and don't subtract 'water weight'

As the above poster said. You weigh yourself with as few clothes as possible and do not subtract for water weight. About 75% of your body is water. It is normal for your weight to fluctuate some for fluid changes from hr to hr and day to day. Try to use the same scale and weigh yourself first thing in the am to track your weight trends over an extended period of time.

Weight yourself in the morning, after using the bathroom, but before you eat or shower. Weigh yourself pretty much next to naked...this is your accurate weight.

The thing is, weighing with clothing is not accurate at all, since you hopefully wear different clothing each day, so each article of clothing weighs a different amount. Also, after drinking/eating a lot, the water/food just sits there, adding A LOT of weight that isn't fat or muscle...it's just undigested weight in your stomach. After sleeping, most of it has digested, and after using the bathroom you excrete a good amount of the undigested junk from the food and water, thus giving you a more accurate reading. Water can still be retained if you don't drink enough or have a lot of sodium the day before though.

Nice try, Smile but weight is weight.  Pick a day of the week and the same time of the day and then work with that so that you see the trend.   Some people go to huge lengths to be a few ounces lighter.... going to the bathroom, clipping their toenails....  but it doesn't really make that big a difference.  Best of luck

I've found that the best way to get a really accurate number is to only weigh myself once a month at the same time of the month. It's almost torture, but between TTOM and water weight I've been known to fluctuate 3-4 lbs in one day. Weighing myself every 30 days tends to control for that. Plus you see more loss in 1 month that in a week :)

Weigh naked.  Don't subtract anything.

Geeze Jane, I've even wiped the cat hair off my scale (LOL!), and made sure my legs and underarms were shaved.  Oh, and don't use creme rise in your hair.  OP-get real.  It doesn't matter what you tell us the scale shows you.  Weigh naked or as close as your comfort allows.  I personally am liking my birthday suit better every day!
