Going to subway!
Hmm what should I have over there that's healthy
What do you guys usually get?

I was thinking of the turkey breast & Ham one?
I used to work at Subway, actually. Most of the ingredients are healthy and fairly fresh (the veggies, anyway). The thing you've got to watch out for is the special sauces- they are super creamy and tasty, but very high cal/fat.
I usually get some variation on a turkey sandwich with whole wheat bread (toasted = delicious :) with pretty much all the veggies, mustard and no cheese. Wraps can also be a good idea if you're looking to keep it light.

The subway website is actually great and has all the nutritional info, so go there and find a sandwich that fits into your calories etc.
I get a 6 inch wheat bread (honey oat has more calories) with turkey and veggies galore with vinegar, lots of black pepper and just a dash of oil. I eat those Light Lays chips on the side (only 70 calories). It's a nice lunch!

I would get any of the "7 under 6" sandwiches. Since the sub has enough carbs for one meal, maybe try pairing the sandwich with minestrone soup or a veggie delite salad.
I've been skipping the cheese, but two of those half slices of provolone is only 50 calories. It's your call. I'm thinking about asking for cheese again. The stats don't sound as horrible as I thought.

Here's my absolute favorite sub concoction I get from subway
6" wheat
Turkey
no cheese, but toasted
lettuce
tomato
onion
pickle
banana peppers
honey mustard
sounds like a lot but with all the veggies, I don't even miss the cheese! Plus I count this as 360 calories, not bad!

yes, toasted = delicious.
I usually get either Turkey, Cold Cut Combo or Subway club
on whatever bread I want (Italian, Wheat, Honey Oat, Parmesean Oregano)
no cheese
lettuce
tomato
pickles
green peppers
jalapenos
and no sauce.
I usually get 'em to go so I can drink water or whatever else I have with me.
I also like the Chili.

I also get it toasted sans cheese.
A 6" sub only has 1 slice of cheese on it, ever notice how they put the triangles on there? It's about 40-70 cals tops, eat the cheese, it's got calcium!
The tiny, itty, bitty piece of cheese is only 50 cal (for the pepper jack) but only accounts for 10% of calcium...skim milk or cottage cheese are way better options. I only eat around 35 grams of fat a day, so it's not worth wasting 4 g when you can barely taste it with all the veggies and I also put lots of vinegar on mine. Shoot, a piece of pure milk chocolate would be the same and I think much better.
Anyone know how bad the marinara sauce is to add to the sub? It's the sauce that the meatballs come in... but without the meatballs of course :) I think it tastes so good and can't be as bad as some of the other sauces/dressings but I've never been able to find any info. Anyone??
I love the Veggie Delite sub on wheat with everything except mayo and cheese. Also all of their soups are good and all under 200 calories except the chili con carne and cream of potato. lol I used to work right next to a Subway. :/
Mm I've never tried the veggie delite salad. It has some of the veggie patty in the salad or is it just a bunch of vegetables?
My favourite:
12" Sweet Onion Chicken Teriyaki
Wheat or Honey Oat bread
No cheese
Not toasted
Lettuce
A little tomato (four slices is plenty)
Lots of onion
Some green peppers
A pickle or two
Salt & pepper
Sweet Onion sauce
Woohoo! :)

The veggie delite salad is just vegetables. You pick which ones you want just like you would for the sub.
I like the subway club because it seems really meaty for not alot of calories
i usually get that on wheat (no cheese because you cant really taste it) w/ tons of veggies and the low fat honey mustard...its an extra 40 calories but it adds great taste and a little something extra
plus i rather have that sauce than the cheese any day!
also try getting this as a wrap instead of a sandwich....the wraps are great

WOW I didn't know they had a veggie delite salad! That sounds amazing! lol
To respond to what nitzan said, I imagine the marinara sauce is pretty bad for you. No, tomato-based sauces as a rule are generally good for you, but that particular sauce has had fatty, greasy meatballs sitting in it all day. Plus, most ready-made sauces like that have an olive oil base, which is pretty fattening. I used to work at subway and I know that the marinara sauce had a kind of yellowish greasy layer that would collect on top of it sometimes. I would avoid putting it on my sandwich.
I like subbing in spinach for lettuce
So for me:
6 in Chicken breast on wheat
spinach, onion, tomato, peppers, onions, cucumber
and since i skipped on the cheese, i add a teeny bit of sweet onion sauce (50 cal =))
salt and pepper
yummy =)

Also if you are going to get a meal, you can order it with water and get Apples. The apples are pretty tasty.
