Hello. Latley I have been seeing an imense number of subway commericals and how they help you maintain your body-weight. Is this true, because hoagies can be loaded with calories, what makes Subway's diffrent than...say WaWa (Mmmm...<3 WaWa)?

The difference is in the fine print. You have to eat specific sandwiches on their menu. You can't add cheese or fatty condiments like mayo. Extra meat is also a no-no. So basically you have bread with lots of veggies and a little bit of lunchmeat. :)
Well it just depends on what you get at Subway, the whole wheat bread, ham, turkey, chicken, and all the veggies are good for you. I dont go crazy over the sauces. But to me they still taste great and still under 400 cals. :)
Thanks, I'll think about that next time I hit SubWay!
If i already worked out and have only ate breakfast and its about 2PM-4PM I will get a Italian BMT No cheese Toasted w/ Lettuce, Tomatoes, Onions, MMMMMM GOOD! But if your looking for around 300 calories get a turkey sub or a ham sub WITH NO CHEESE. I usually get them with Lettuce,Tomatoe, and a little onion. Its like an orgasm in my mouth lol.

There are only a handful of sandwiches on their menu that can help you "maintain" your current weight or live a healthier lifestyle. It's definitely a healthier fast food option but the bottom line is that it's still fast food. The meat is processed and preserved as is any condiments that aren't vegetables. It's loaded with salt and it  may be okay to have once in a while but not everyday. Jared got lucky :P

Yeah, those adds are pretty decieving!

I know for a fact that here (Australia) they have sandwiches that they promise are 6g of fat or less. As has already been mentioned, you have to say no to the cheese and the toppings etc.

Every time I get one, I ask for a 6g of fat sandwich and the person working there says "sure. Do you want cheese?" Haha.

yeah, people still need to stop and think when they go in there. i've seen/heard cases where people will get extra meat, mayo, cheese, heavy dressings, etc, and they know those things are not good, but they automatically think "but it's Subway" & still think they're gonna lose weight. Subway is not a miracle food, people. you still need to make smart choices. i like the turkey or roasted chicken on wheat with lettuce and tomato.

it is a bit decieving, but what does everyone expect? a miracle fix on a hoagie diet? i mean, if you know not to eat it normally on a diet, why would you think it'd be okay on a Subway sandwich? Subway can aid in weightloss, you just have to use your head. i personally love subway! ...and Wawa too! (:
It really all depends on what your maintenance level is.  I think most people gave a response for if you are wanting to lose weight, not maintain.  Mine is at around 1900 calories; 300 for breakfast, 550 for lunch, 2 snacks 300, and 750 dinner.  There are around 14 different sandwiches available for 550 or less (including cheese), I do watch the saturated fats though so I never get mayo or regular dressing...just lots of veggies and vinegar.  So to make a short story long, I get the BMT w/out cheese (enough fats in the meat) if maintaining weight and get the club w/out cheese if wanting to lose.
Subway has a great website with nutritional info, check it out:

http://www.subway.com/subwayroot/index.aspx
I always get the cheese, too, but I make sure I have enough room in my calorie intake for the day for it. They claim it's only 40 calories but I know for a fact that a reasonable slice of cheese is about 100, so I always log it at around 70.
I love subway, don't get me wrong, but I agree that the ads are misleading. The ones I saw compare a puny fast food hamburger to a foot-long sub. If you listen closely, what they actually say is that the sub will have less fat than the burger. But what you seem to walk away thinking is that the sub has less calories than the burger. Two different things!

Now maybe it is true the sub also has less calories... I don't know, I haven't checked. But I still think this can be misleading. Just because something is fat-free or low-fat doesn't automatically make it low in calories.

What's more, if you have insulin issues that's A LOT of bread to eat, even if it's low in cals and fat. That much bread would have the same effect as eating a small slice of birthday cake for me....
Subway usually compares to a Whopper, which has 760 calories in it.  There isn't a single footlong sandwich from the low fat selection over this amount (w/out cheese of course).
Heck Yeah!  Subway exposed.  I recently read their comparison disclaimers and the Mcfastfood meals they compare themselves to is the competitor's sandwich, loaded and with large fries and a coke.  Then they put their stripped down Sub without a side or drink.  Very misleading
Yeah, they don't include the chips or a sugary soda in those totals.
How Jared lost all the weight is eating the subs without cheese or mayo and he walked to the subway twice a day.

If you want to go ou to eat do it every once in a while.  Subway is a good choice compared to any burger joint.
You could lose weight eating at McDonald's everyday. It all depends on what YOU order. There are some nice options on the Subway menu, but there are also many sandwiches there that are just as calorie-heavy as a Big Mac.

I know I've seen people downing a foot-long meatball sub with cheese thinking, "Hey, I'm eating at Subway - so this MUST be healthy!" Dear, oh dear...
The ads are absolutely not deceiving and are not misrepresenting anything. Subway does an outstanding job in providing the nutritional breakdown of their sandwiches. It is plastered on the counter glass, printed on the napkins and even printed on the side of their beverage cups. This information clearly indicates the extra calories if you add certain extras such as cheese and condiments.

Anyone complaining about Subway trying to something underhanded is completely off the reservation. I couldn?t care less about this or that being processed whatever or loaded with sodium. At the end of the day your diet is nothing more than calories consumed ? calories burned, and Subway clearly tells you every step of the way how many calories you are getting from their products.
I understand the complaints about Subway, but you have to remember that they offer unhealthy stuff too because that's what a certain percentage of their customers want.

It's up to you to know what is healthy there and what is not.
the meatball sub is actually one of the worst. when i get a sub from there i normally dont pay attention to the calories. i pay attention to the fat. but i normally get the chicken teriakyi. hehe its my favorite one!!!!! and its under 6g of fat, until i get the cheese. im 100% dairy lover. i have to have it. lol
Subway is not lying, their menu has plenty of options which are extremely healthy and can be part of a healthy lifestyle. What you order is your choice, if you get the meatball sub with cheese, mayo, and any other god-awful ingredient, don't expect the "Healthy" banner to continue to hold true.
