Does anyone know if the calories on the website of subway sandwiches include dressing and cheese or even the bread!!??... it doesn't make sense how low in calories they are ...
and did anyone ever go on the subway diet before?? was it sucessful ...because i am thinking about it ...
thx u guys :)
You have to add the cheese and condiments to the count. 2 of their cheese slices are 40 calories. I don't know how much is in mayo. Mustard is about 5 calories a tsp. The calories they list are for the meat, bread, and veggies.
Look at the smaller print at the bottom of the page.
"Subs with 6 grams of fat or less include Italian or wheat bread,
lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, onions, green peppers and olives. All other
sandwich values include cheese unless otherwise noted.
Salads contain meat/poultry, standard vegetables and do not include salad-dressing or croutons.
Addition of other condiments and fixings will alter nutrition values."
So what I do when calculating my sub is this: If you're having bread other than italian/wheat, add the ADDITIONAL calories to the total count. Your sub says 500 but on the bread nutrition label, your bread says 300. So you know 200 of those are already accounted for, but you have to add another 100 since your bread choice has more calories.
Then, if you are having a sub with "6g fat or less" then you have to add the calorie counts for cheese and dressing, if you have it. If you have a sub from a different menu then you just have to add for dressing (or take away 50 calories if you DIDN'T get cheese!)
It might seem confusing at first but I really appreciate how Subway breaks the nutrition info down for customers so we can tell exactly what we are getting with every combination. ^^
ps: I did not go on the "subway diet" but I do really like subway and I include it in my "CC" diet when I can. My favorite sub USED to be the tuna but since that has so many calories I switched to the veggie or turkey. My favorite sub now is a veggie 6" on italian with ALL the veggies + southwest dressing. The southwest dressing is 100 calories per 6" (!!!) so sometimes I get the fat free honey mustard instead on it, which is also good (30 calories). I love 260 calorie lunches!!
Just a point about Subway....I use them on the days that I want to be a bit bad.....takes care of my fast food urge......and it takes care of that...!!! woot!!!

Me too! I normally bring my lunch to work every day but once every week or 2 I will allow myself to get the veggie sub as a treat... soooo good, yet still low in calories!
I work at Subway so, the 6 grams of fat or less sandwiches do not include cheese or condiments. The other sandwiches do include the cheese, but no sauce. The 6 grams of fat or less sandwiches only include the veggies (lettuce, tomato, pickles onions, green peppers, and olives. But you have to realize that the amount of those veggies that are supposed to go on your sandwich are small. (3 pickles, 3 olives, .5 oz of lettuce, green pepper, and onion, and 2 tomatoes). Since I usually get more veggies than that, I usually just add about 20 calories or so to the amount of the sandwich.
Salads are the same way, only they have the amount of veggies for a footlong instead of a 6 inch (double veggies).
Condiments: mustard (reg. and spicy)=5 calories per tbsp, honey must.= 30 calories per tbsp. The mayo (even though low fat) is not even worth it b/c the person making the sandwich will probably put too much. Everything else is pretty much high in fat.
Hope this helps!
It doesn't include cheese or condiments. BUT subway helped me lose. I love it. I am still losing, but subway helped me get the first pounds off. I had to fill the gap mcdonalds left haha.
Anyways, I realized they have quite a bit of sodium in them, but goodness everything does! I would say eat them!
I was surprised at how much sodium they had too!
when I have a sub from subway, I add on 40 calories for the 2 slices of cheese and now, after reading the comment from the person who works at subway, I will add an extra 20 calories knowing that I am probably getting more veggies that I'm supposed to get. No problem and good to know =) I always get the turkey breast sub on wheat.

According to the Nutritional paper I got at subway last night the club count includes the meat, wheat bread, lettuce, tomato, pickle, onion,s green peppers but not dressings or cheese.
I also get Subway about once or twice a week as a 'treat'. I get the Club (6 g of fat or less) on whole wheat, with all the veggies. I skip the cheese, and treat myself to Southwest Chipotle sauce. It's sooo good.
I try not to eat fast food. But when I do I go for Subway. Love the freshness of the sandwich. I just have vinager? put on mine as a dressing. Was not adding for the extra veggies, thanks. My thing is I need chips with it. But I go for the plain baked Lay's.
Subway sounds really good right about now. I am also a 'just red wine vinegar' adder. The bread is included, the meat and veggies are included, but everything else is not.
