Hi tegger2,

I was taking 2 tablespoons of organic apple cider vinegar (ACV) 3 times a day for about 2 weeks. I stopped b/c I ran out. I did lose inches b/c my clothes fit much looser, but this was in combination with a 1400 calorie intake and exercise 3 times a week (bootcamp, kwando, and aerobics) so not sure how much the ACV impacted inches lost.

I didn't notice much difference in scale weight loss but feel great that I can wear clothes that were very tight or just didn't fit at all.

I'm looking forward to how others reply....
I use apple cider vinegar like water. I'm addicted to vinegar!! yum! I don't buy that for one minute.

I tried the apple cider vinegar thing religiously for 30 days straight because I told myself to give it a chance. NOTHING happened. Granted, I was exercising like usual and was kind of dieting (hey-I didn't gain weight).

I just read in my consumer reports health  that there is no evidence that it works.

I have heard that it helps hundreds of other ailments, though, and there is truth to "an apple a day keeps the doctor away!" maybe it will work for you!
1/3 cup in your laundry gets rid of lingering smells from greasy foods but I've never heard it helping with weight loss.  I don't think it can hurt you so it's worth a shot though right?
It doesn't do anything for fat, but it will help keep you feeling full.  It's acidic, and will slow down the digestive process.  You can get the same benefit from lemon water.

What do you think really contributed to your success?
I have never heard about the possiblity it breaks down fat but I know people who use it as an immunity booster. I don't know that it accomplishes that either. shrug
I haven't heard it used to help lose weight, but my husband uses Apple Cider Vinegar (Mother's Brand) to help with acid reflux.  He swears it works.

I don't believe in fad diets.  Yes, you can lose weight initially, but you're not going to keep it off for the long haul, in fact, you probably will put it back on and then some!!  The best way to lose weight is to just eat less and move more!!!  Simple....eat what you want, just less of it and get up and move!
I can't see why it would make any logical sense to help weight loss.  It isn't something I'd try.  0_o;;

I have been testing a new apple cider vinegar product that includes a variety of anti oxidants and organic honey. It tastes amazing and it combines the benefits of juices like Acai with the incredible benefits of ACV. I was asked to test the product through a friend of mine and they are making it commercially available this month (January). The company is Body Ami. www.bodyami.com I have been taking Braggs, but this definitely tastes better. Not sure of the cost, but I think it will be around $12 per bottle.

This is from Mary Hartley our in-house nutritionist on her page called "Ask Mary":

Can cider vinegar help me to lose weight?

There is no scientific evidence that apple cider vinegar promotes weight loss. It does not breakdown fat cells, flush out toxins, speed up the metabolism, or curb the appetite. Apple cider vinegar is a harmless condiment, and so it can't hurt. Perhaps taking a few spoonfuls of vinegar a day might serve as an affirmative action to remind you to eat less.

Perhaps reading this post by Lalabanana in H&S forum will help too, as I would consider using this cide vinegar to lose weight to be a Fad Diet.

its been used for more than a thousand years in my family and there is controversy regarding Cider Vinegar.

Doctors state that there is no scientific evidence, as it stops you from buying third party sponsored drugs which they earn commission out of sales.

The effects of Cider vinegar takes 3 months like any other natural supplement to take effect.  Also you feel great after several days of using it.  have patience and also excercise at least 20 minutes a day anyway.  Some people think that you take minerals and sit all day eating horrible foods and expect cider vinager to take effect.

I am a certified herbalist and own a health food - supplement store in Ohio and Raw Apple Cider vinegar is very healthy for anyone. Also it is not acidic it is the opposite it is Alkaline. So anybody who is very acidic would benefit from this product. It is suppose to help balance your PH levels. FYI Cancer and other diseases cannot live in an Alkaline state only in a acidic state, but too much alkaline can make you run down weak and tired so that is why you should keep your ph leveled. I take 8 oz. of water with 1 TBPS. Raw Apple Cider Vinegar with mother and some honey to cover the taste. I do this once a day and it has equaled out my ph. I use to be very acidic and very sick and I feel great now. Also it did help me with weight loss because it helped speed up my metabolism. Hope this helps Thanks for taking time to read it.  Treasa
