Pace yourself through your meal, taking small bites and chewing thoroughly, focusing on the flavors. Drink at least 10 glasses of water daily. Follow the 20 minute rule - wait 20 mins before you get that second helping, or dessert. Last but not least, if you're like me and your weight fluctuates 3-4 lbs daily due to drinking lots of water, you must weigh yourself at the same time every day, under the same conditions (e.g., first thing in the morning, before going to the bathroom or before drinking or eating anything). It gives you the most accurate picture of how much weight you're losing.

notes for friends: take it nice and slow... expect fluctuations.. take measurements as soon as you start.. so you can see results when the scale doesnt show em :)take before and after pictures :) watch your sodium.. drink lots of water, and change things up occassionally to keep your body from adjusting and getting in a rut... treat yourself occassionally and dont feel guilty about it...

notes for friends: ive been trying to loose weight for 3 years (i even joined LA weight loss in 2005) and this is the most ive lost . it takes time but dont give up. it might suck at the beggining, but after a few weeks its actually fun. if you hit a pleateau do not give up.. change your exercise and switch up your food.. measure yourself once a month... keep your head up and dont let anyone tell you differently.
