Sudden metabolism change..could it be a problem?

Quote  |  Reply

Hello all,

I have lost a lot of weight in the last couple months. I am male, 24, 6'8". I started dieting back in August and have been very successful. I'm down to 301 pounds as of yesterday. Starting around end of 1st week of October, I was getting cold often, my hunger wasn't as strong and my weight loss slowed down. I associated all of this with my body reacting to the reduced intake by slowing metabolism.

I've kept my diet and exercise constant. No changes at all. The hunger and coldness stopped about a week ago. I weigh myself every three to four mornings and I've been losing almost exactly a pound a day. The coldness is gone, and my hunger has increased - but only a bit. This part might be TMI, but my urine is very acidic and a deep yellow/orange color - even though I am drinking about 150 oz of water per day. (It reminds me of the urine I had on Atkins induction years ago)

Should I be worried? I mean...I love the rapid results even though some say it might be seriously dangerous...but this sudden change has sort of shocked me. Should I see a doc?

John

holy crap you're 6"8?!

it PROBABLY is ur sudden weight loss, one pound a day is a bit too much?

it'll be wise to see a doctor. I don't think it's anything too serious but you might just want to check it out.

Thanks, I guess I will if it keeps up for another couple of days.
