Sugar can be addictive, Princeton scientist says

Quote  |  Reply

Thought so... I get more and more reasons not to eat any sugar! Since I quit (beginning of November) my mind and body are much calmer, my binges reduced to almost zero and I'm much happier.

I also do not take any sweetners, but I do add a bit of honey so now and then.

I personally strongly disagree with cutting something out of a diet completely. It usually leads to a sudden urge for what you're missing in.

Would you say the same thing if this post was about cocaine, cigarettes or alcohol? Yes people can get a certain urge for a drink or a ciggie but if they do not cut it out they will never be able to do without.

I too cut refined sugar out of my diet.  It was one of the best things I did for my eating and my body.  I also will only sweeten with more natural sweeteners such as honey, or molasses.

The first three days were the worst.  After that I never looked back.  I put a post out several months ago titled "Sugar = The Blues" and it was not unusual to run into others who had similar results with odd items clearing up.  I had mental blocks, those went away along with snoring, inflammation in my hands, getting control over my appetite as well as dropping 15 pounds right off of the bat with no effort.  Now only on special occasions will I have something with refined sugar in it.

I look at sugar like low grade rat poison.  If people only realized how bad it is for you, they would change their diet in a New York minute!

Wow it really cleared up a lot for you! For me it helped great in my mental blocks and feelings of anxiety. When I look back on it I think that my moments of anxiety could have been sugar highs going over the top. It sure feels the same way. When I have sugar now and I experience the rapid heart beatings I can look at my situation and see that there is nothing I should or could be scared about but I did eat sugar.

A while ago I found this list on which you can find lots and lots of problems that might be caused by sugar intake. I found it rather shocking to read. IF and I say IF it causes so many problems then people should really watch out what they put in their body.

I still find it really interesting to find out how much it helps me in losing weight and my personal development journey.

It try not to become anti sugar but when things become so much better in only a good month then it is hard to stay neutral about it.

Haha. I personally strongly disagree with lala! I think it's an excellent idea to cut back on sugar and to eliminate all of the access/added crap.

Jolanda,

There is a group that you may be interested in on CC, it called Kicking The Sugar Habit.  http://caloriecount.about.com/kicking-sugar-h abit-g611

The hot link you provided on "this list" was very interesting.  I have noticed that I don't get wound up as much and I forgot to mention that my cholesterol went into the normal zone after giving up sugar.

Thanks Dad ;-) (love the name hahaha)

I've subscribed to the group!
