Are there any sugar-free gums without aspartame or Splenda?
Asked by martha35 on Jun 03, 2009 in Nutrition

I am allergic to aspartame and Splenda but I would like to chew gum and have sweets.  Is there anything out there for me?

Answer

I know of three sugar-free gums that are sweetened with the sugar alcohol, xylitol, and do not contain aspartame or sucralose (Splenda).  They are Spry Gum, ZAPP! Gum, and XyliChew gum from Finland.  They all come in a variety of flavors and are recommended by dentists because xylitol inhibits the growth of bacteria in the mouth. You can buy Spry gum at health food stores, such as  Whole Foods and GNC, and the other two are available on-line.  Each company produces xylitol candy too.  Soon, in the US, you will also be able to buy sugar-free gum sweetened with stevia, a sweet herb.

Allergy Remedies
Is It Possible to Go Natural?
The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
