But I just finished another pack recently and got around to reading the ingredients :(
Over half the ingredients there sound scary. Including Hydrogenated coconut and plam kernel oil.
Also sodium steraolyl-2-lactylate, sodium alginate, etc whatever that stuff is? Also, maltodexterin, xylitol, mailtol and various other sweeteners.
Does anyone love it? Or avoid completely?
Its just soooo good.... and for only 60 cals.... I am a health freak... but.... its so good!
I loooove putting it in smoothies! It adds a sort of pudding-type texture to my shake and makes it thicker.... however, I agree the ingredients are somewhat frightening..
I like the pudding but I don't normally buy it because of the hydrogenated oil. I think one of the brands doesn't have it...but the ingredients are still hardly recognizable. They are tastey though. Once in awhile I treat myself to it.
you know? i've actually never tried the sugar-free version. i bought it once and didn't read the package very carefully and didn't see the "keep refrigerated" they had in teeny-tiny print, so i kept it in my cupboard foor 2 weeks and then finally read it and had to throw it out :(
Haha funny this thread should pop up, because my boyfriend and I just had a Sugar-free Jell-O extravaganza over the weekend! We bought like, 5 different flavors, and added diet soda or carbonated water to some of them, combined the cherry and the lime flavors, blah blah blah, and put them into little cups so they were like Jello shots minus the alcohol. Then we'd snack on them for the next 4 or 5 days and they're great!
I really like the rice puddings though. They're only 70 calories and they're deliciously amazing.
I still think of Bill Cosby whenever I eat any of these though... I dunno if it's funny or just kinda creepy...
i personally don't think they're worth 60 calories; they're so small.
i prefer taking the instant stuff you're supposed to make with milk and make it with water and splenda instead, and eating all four servings you get in the packet for about 100 calories.
there's a lot of sodium, about 60% of your DV, but all you really have to do is lay off the sodium for the rest of the day. it's way more worth it, IMO.
Not as easy to find as SF Jell-O refridgerated or the shelf Snack Pack BUT same size cups.
Might not seem much number difference but I love pudding so if I want two, thats only 80cal, not much more than one of the other brands.
Plus they taste great but again, can be hard to find. I get them from Krogers and when they hit a sale, seriously stock up on them!
Like you could have a very small amount of ice cream made with all whole milk and cream or you could have a bigger portion of some kind of reduced fat/ cal brand for the same amount of cals. but it may have other weird ingredients in it.
I think that as long as you are not only surviving off of processed foods and you are careful how it is fitting in to what ever else you are eating that day, that it is ok as a treat or to help balance a craving. Again it is a personal choice as to what you feel better with putting into your body and how it helps satifiy you in the bigger picture. And there are also plenty of diebetics out there who don't always have such a choice too. ;-)
