I love sugary foods but i am really trying to cut them down so I can look and feel better. I was just wondering how much is to much? I have kept it below 50 grams of sugar for the past 3 days (yay! I think?) This is mostly processed sugary stuff though, is that to much? I ate 3 slices of Hungry girls pumpkin bread today and each slice had 9 grams of sugar.....I am hoping that is mainly from the pumpkin and crasins( bc I left the crasins out). Anyway, I was just kind of wanting to get an idea of what you all considered to much.

I think that less than 50g is a decent amount to aim for. Concentrate on the added sugars, don't worry about the naturally occurring ones.

Apart from obvious answers like 400g in a day being too much, the limit is going to be different for everyone. If you're losing weight and feeling good, 50g is not too much.

Generally, the less sugar that isn't from minimally processed foods like fresh fruit, fresh vegetables, and milk, the better, but there's no reason to cut it extremely low unless you feel better that way and don't feel so deprived that you're tempted to cheat frequently.

For me, 1g of processed sugar is too much, I just choose not to eat it and am able to do that almost every day.   Generally, the less the better when it comes to white sugar, brown sugar, high fructose corn syrup, sucrose, corn syrup, malt syrup and the many other forms of processed sugars.  They have no food value beyond their calories, the only food that we consume that you can say that about.  You have to be careful reading labels though because many processed foods count the sugar in foods as sugar, as in an apple or pumpkin for example, or craisins.

If you are trying to lose weight and eating 50 grams of sugar fits into your weight loss calorie goals then I'd say you're doing pretty good.  Most people, consume a lot more than that, or replace it with chemicals to mimic the sugar, which may be even worse.

Thanks everyone!n I will try and keep in down!  I am not sure that I could go without....then comes the binges.

Thanks again,

Amy
