Just wondering - my sugar intake is often over 100% but I tend to eat a lot of fruit and depending on what kind, 1 or 2 fruits can put it over 100%!! Is this a problem, or is it only ADDED sugar that I should be worried about? And what is the recommened limit on added sugar each day?
Thanks :)
The recommendation is to get about 50g a day. If most of that is coming from natural sources like fresh fruit rather than refined sugars, you're OK. One or two pieces of fruit a day should be plenty in a balanced diet.
Me too, I'm addicted to sugar.... in fruits (cause I go even more insane if its refined sugars, so I can't let myself start with those!)
for example for breakfast i had: 2 cups of milk, 1 cup of blueberries, 1 grapefruit, 1/2 banana and 3 dried persimmons (fruit.... yikes, 100 cals each! fruit triggers my sweet tooth too....) So I'm pretty sure I'm like 300% of my recommended sugar intake already and its only 9am for me!
You don't need to count the sugar from fruit, vegetables, dairy, or grains.
I`ve lost and maintained just fine eating around 3-6 servings of fruit a day (I must have dessert with every meal, but at least I make it a nutritious one), and at the very least 5, but mostly more, veggie servings. I also generally stick to my other food pyramid recommended serving sizes. But I keep active, seldom eat processed sugar, and never touch refined flour/white rice unless I absolutely have to.

Figure out what type of eater you are and you might just find the answer to permanent weight loss.
