Well, I was just wondering, how bad is it, really, if my daily sugar intake is usually around 200%? It's within my calorie limit, but I'm curious; am I looking at some serious problem? (I know balanced diet is the way to go but those constant fruit snacks keep me happy. :D I like fruit. A lot. Tons of apples.)
...
If most of the sugar in your diet is coming from fruit then it's not a serious problem. However, you can have too much of good thing.... too many apples can cause bellyaches, for example.... and if you're eating too much fruit you may be missing out on other important foods. So aim for a balance but don't worry unduly.
Thanks!
My sugar level is often that high and like you mostly from fruits and some veggies. Make sure you do get vegetables. Try some of the sweeter ones to start if you don't like them. Examples: baby carrots, raw tomato.
And I absolutely adore apples too! I have one every day with my lunch. I agree with gijane though you should be getting variety.
Around 200%? Is that based off of your own diet plan or the FDA's? Last I checked, the latter hasn't established a daily allowance of simple sugars.
Regardless, you're asking how "healthy" it is to load up on fruits? Well, it isn't "unhealthy" if you're eating within your limit. However, if you're doing so, you're possibly not getting other nutrients that are vital for everday healthy living.
Keep in mind, however, sugars are sugars. Regardless of whether it comes from a cake or a fruit, they can add up if you're not watching your calories, they can lead to weight gain if you're consuming more then your daily allowance.
