Sugar Substitutes
What are your thoughs on sugar substitues and do you eat them? ex. "lite" yogurt and what do you think of stevia?
Reason: Moved from Young Calorie Counters to Foods.
I don't eat any chemical sugar substitutes because I don't believe in consuming chemicals in place of food.
I'm okay with stevia because it's a plant extract just like vanilla or almond extract, but I believe it needs to be used in moderation just like anything else. I've had it from Smoothie King, but the bottle of it on my sweeteners shelf has been unopened for months.
Personally, I don't like many of the foods that contain artificial sweetners. 'Diet' foods always seem to be full of other fake things as well. e.g. thickeners to compensate for the lack of fat. I'd much rather have the genuine full-fat, full-sugar original but simply enjoy it in smaller quantities.
I ADORE THEM!
Equeal is the safest one, so I try to stick with that
But if it tastes good and cuts calories
GIMMIE!
