Sugar/water: PLEASE RESPOND
Is it true that if you pair a high sugar food, like raisins, with a big glass of water, that you won't be as affected by the high sugar content?
I had a mini box of those Sun Maid raisins just now. And holy moley they have 30g sugar per box !! WHAT THE HECK!?
So, now I feel all sick and I am drinking water with the hope that it will make me feel better. Is this true, or what's the deal?
Will this sugar, albeit natural, still wreak havoc on my insulin levels?
haha, what?!
It won't really do anything to change the sugar content, but it is really important to drink lots of water when you eat dried fruits, because they soak up liquid in your stomach.
If I didn't have an issue with matching, I'd add an extra L to my name but my new last name is going to have four letters in it, so I figured I'd keep my first name with four letters.
If you guys want to use "Holy Moly" and just make me feel like I'm some sort of glorious God or something, knock yourselves out but I demand you all bow to me whenever you use the phrase. And kiss my toes, I'd really like to have my toes kissed. Unless you slobber.
My bad for jackin' your thread p_fagan.
oooh I see. No worries. :-)
Anyway, I somehow doubt that a mere 2g fiber can compete with the 30g sugar....
But I don't care at this point, I feel fine
High sugar anything will set off the craving mechanism. Water won't necessarily flush out the sugar - you have to exercise to burn it up or it will deposit itself as fat.
Just control your blood sugar and you won't crave high sugar or natural sugar snacks. The body sees all sugar the same - as an energy source that if not used, will get stored.
Fiber? Raisins have next to no fiber in them.
50g raisins: 1.9g
50g milk chocolate: 1.7 g
But either way, if it was 50g, it's still less than 30g of sugar so no big deal.
