I might be wrong about this, but it is kind of annoying. I add a food to my calorie counter that isn't in the food search, and then to suggest it to be included in the search, I have to go to a separate section and re-type everything again. It would be nice if I could suggest a food to be added right out of my food log.
I agree completely and have made this reccomendation to the site moderators. I think the food database would grow MUCH quicker if they made it easy to suggest a food entered via the short form.
Many, many times I've wanted to suggest a food, but have just "added it here" to my food log instead. It's frutstrating not to have an integrated suggest and add to log feature, since it's pretty much the same form, it would be easy to implement a checkbox on each page, allowing you to perform both operations in one go. I've been on calorie count for 3 years, and I can't believe this still hasn't been addressed.
I can only imagine it hasn't been tackled due to worries about data integrity. I also have a mental image of some poor person who's job it is to read and approve these food suggestions. This is a job for the site's search engine!
This is still the best calorie site I've seen, in case you read my tone as anything other than constructive.
Perhaps I've not understood the question, and if I haven't - I apologise. However, if I add a food which isn't in the database, I tag it, and then I can add it to my food log very quickly whenever I use it.
I hope that helps,
Ax
Looks like a popular topic to me - manual add to log and suggest functions need to be unified.
